Stooges list of recordings

Hi everyone,

this is my first post, is there a list that exists of all the Stooges recording sessions with song info and records they are from.

I know that Misfits fans have produced a very good recording history of this band and its called the Msifits bible.

I think that the correct info about The Stooges sessions, with the exact dates, does not exist. There are lots of CDs with the wrong information on the cover. I am trying something, but trust me, it's impossible mission.
How to know what is right, when the same tapes have different infos !?!

Similar to that Misfits list is Olivier Landemaine's fantastic Velvet Underground website. For those interested take a look at the sections on Live Performances and Rehearsal, and Studio/Home recordings:

I particularly like the way it lists the official and/or bootlegs on which the music can be found. It has saved me a lot of money over the years.

I found this site linked on another thread. It's a pretty good job at listing all the Stooges/Iggy Pop recordings as well as the different versions of the same recordings (or other sources). The one thing that would be nice would be to cross-reference that list with what is available on the various cd's (official or otherwise) that permeate the marketplace. I'm sure if we worked together we could all do it.

Okay, funny he didn't mention it. Either way, do you not agree that it would be nice to know which version of Head On is on that cd you just bought (or are contemplating buying) and if it exists on another cd with better sound quality. I think it would save potential and existing Stooges completists some valuable time and money.

Remember what a resource Dirt's Iggy Pop Tradelist is!
There are complete setlists for most of the material he has, the last column to the right. He contributed much of the material to the Easy Action stuff, if you read the credits, starting with Heavy Liquid. Dirt is KR.

I agree with you, but on his list is a mess with The Stooges tapes too.
He sent me his The Stooges tapes and I have documented all his recording.
I support Per's studies (posted on this forum), so I modulated my list with his information.

I am not sure I understand what you're getting at.

4 concerts, but they are different versions from different contributors? I know there are numerous personal versions of many shows.

These concerts were first recorded on cassettes (analog tape - in one part) and then transferred to CD.
This process created a variety variations of the first tape (different quality, split into tracks, often the number of songs ... ), but the first source of all copies is same. I will not write about record cass to cass...

All these tapes are in circulations.


Various CD releases have incorrect information on the covers (Live 1971, Californa Bleeding, Revenge singles etc.) and this creates additional confusion. Only Easy Action have exact details of the recording before it issued (for this reason they are the best ).

Dirty is really cool man, I share tapes with him for a couple of years. Two years ago, I wrote to him about some The Stooges tapes from Per's book and he sent me their tapes from Whiskey 73, that I compare it with my tapes. He wrote me that it would be great, that I check it. I'm sure, he will soon change some information on his page.

Advantage of this forum are the real experts likes Per, Paul T, Neven, Iggy-fan, Jim Lahde, You (the best site ) and many other ... so we all learn a lot of new information about The Stooges and Iggy. Finally now we come to some accurate informations.
For example, until recently, almost nobody knew that Ron's jam was recorded in 1971.

Iggy-fan asked James about them. He answered that he not believe it was him on these tracks.
