Why All The Help?

Hey, i was just watching the press conference for Preliminaires that Iggy did, and its good (like the story about the photographer), i clicked on the tab that said ''More Iggy Pop Videos? Click Here" and i thought it was youtube or something, but it linked to the Iggy Pop Preliminaires Youtube Channel, and i thought it was cool, they had the background and everything, but i still cant help thinking;

why has EMI(?) or others, Iggy's management or something, pushed the album so much? why has there been press conferences, the nightclubbing II gig and broadcast and the other things

why did they do this for a soundtrack that wasnt being toured? I was also wondering why, in comparison with the little press weirdness got (or that i can remember). I dont remember them promoting it, well, i remember the band promoting it, like the mojo interview and other things, TV appearances, which was great, but i dont remember anything else, like why didnt they do a press conference for example, especially since it was the reunion album which seems better reason than a soundtrack album

i'm not saying stooges should have done a press conference or whatever, thats only a example, but why are they pushing this? especially since Mojo (who, personally, i hold very high in terms of musical opinion, and i dont read reviews, well i read them but i dont let them influence me, but i respect Mojo alot, and they only gave it 3 stars - and gave were one of only a few people to give weirdness 4 (or anything above 2)

Maybe because this is a harder sell, ya think???

i dont understand what you mean Cathy, do you mean its harder for them to sell a jazz soundtrack album?

spose you're right, though how many people are going to be interested in an iggy pop jazz soundtrack to a houellebceq documentary anyway lol

I think its a combination of things. Including Virgin wanting to sell a moody Iggy album which coinsedently is coming out not long after Ron's death. Maybe thats me being cynical but thats the way I look at it.

i would've thought this would sell better, with or without Ron's death as a generator, stooges never sell, its like a universal truth lol, so i didnt expect weirdness to do very well, but i dont know why they are pushing an album that, for example Mojo gave 3 stars, which for a one off soundtrack album i thought, although not hearing anything yet, sounded about right, for a soundtrack album, but they gave weirdness 4 stars (one of the only magazines that did), and i agree with the 4 stars, i love the weirdness

but my question isnt really about selling or reviews or anything, well it kinda is, btu i'm just wondering why they are making youtube channels and doing all this other stuff, is it because its not getting toured and so they have to do more to promote it to break even? or is it because they want to let people know iggy's still going to keep going?

Maybe Iggy's marketing team have finally gotten a kick up the backside to catch up with all the newer mediums avalible like YouTube channels.

i hope so, i wonder whats in store for stooges or ''future stooges'' or ''new stooges'' or whatever they'll be called

hopefully its something tasteful, that mightn't be a great word to use, but sometimes reunions without people can look a bit stupid, dolls did it well, cause they moved forward, but i hope stooges dont go around with some new guitarist trying to be Ron, it might look a bit weird, and as i said, tasteless

iggy has had this in the can for some time and it finishes his current commitment to Virgin. All the promo is mainly due to the French EMI guy who is young, energetic and media savy.

hope he doesnt get dropped or anything, maybe, if james was up for it, it would be a good idea to do a couple shows with him in remembrance to Ron or something, even just to keep the name out there, suppose its not really up to us
