| There are plans for the new configuration of the Stooges to re-cut long-lost Stooges tracks. I think it's a great idea - much better than trying to come up with new tracks which won't be nowhere near as great. Suggestions for a 10-track remake project:
Wet My Bed (great Chuck Berry-style album opener) Head On Big Time Bum Johanna (done Stooge-style) You Don't Want My Name Fresh Rag Who Do You Love? (done as '71 cover) Cock In My Pocket Heavy Liquid Open Up And Bleed (closing the album)
I assume they won't re-record the tunes they did cut in the studio, "I Got A Right", etc., but maybe they should be considered as well.
This will be a great album, demonstrating how many brilliant songs they wrote! I truly hope they purse the plan!

| What? No She Creatures From The Hollywood Hills? No Pinpoint Eyes? They would all fit on a CD. | |

| Yeah, OK, "She-Creatures" should probably be on it! I think "Rich Bitch" could be left off, though. Or should it? "Pinpoint Eyes" was never performed, as far as I know, if that's a criterion for inclusion. Per | |

| Wet my bed and Pinpoint Eyes are both shit. Iggy doing freefrom lyrics at rehearsal and then later being so stoned he thought they would be good songs live. Pinpoint eyes particularly is real sub-Morrisson. I saw that Iggy says they will re-record Wet My Bed, knowing Mr. cynical the only reason he said that is hes lurking this forum when your not looking LOL!!! | |

| Personally, I'd just as soon they re-recorded Kill City as a proper Stooges album and left the bootlegs alone. I'm not too worried about Williamson, but there is NO way that Iggy could recreate the paint-stripping vocals on 'Bleed', 'Name' etc. Just too much mileage on the vocal chords.
(Unless Scott dangles Iggy out the window of a hi-rise or something before each vocal take. That might do it...)
And they'd better not touch 'Gimmie Some Skin'. Ya don't fix what ain't broke.

| I wouldn't want them to touch I Got A Right, Gimme Some Skin, Scene Of The Crime or I'm Sick Of You, but I'd like them to rerecord Rubber Legs and She Creatures. | |

| The Ig specified Wet my Bed, Cock in my Pocket and Open Up and Bleed. He offered up the info. It was not in response to a question.
Since we are making our wish list, I figured I'd weigh in here too.
Black Like Me (aka Dead Body) really needs a proper recording. It was performed many times and was one of my favorite songs.

i dont see how ya could be so sure?
id like to see these songs redone/recorded properly as well...but reality is recorded a new album of new material might make more sense. the stooges arent the same people they were back then, theyve lost several members, theyve retired from other careers, etc etc.....theres a lot to pull from.
i personally hope to see a little bit of both.

| Very astute, Sway!
I would like to see new music also. I am not sure I would want new and old together. I think the guys owe it to themselves and their fans to record those wonderful songs properly once and forever. There is so much half done or poorly recorded stuff out there, I think it needs to be made right.
But I also think the life experience they have been through would generate wonderful and creative songs.
I say bring them all on with a double CD!

| Great news about 'Wet My Bed' being recorded. It was always one of my favourites - at least the Latin Casino version. I think someone needs to get the original tape and clean it up, as it would make a decent album if done properly, much better than the 'Double Danger' CD.
For a new Stooges album I also hope for a mixture of old and new. For the new tracks I hope they will use at least some of Ron's unused rhythm tracks.

| Stylistically I think a mix of 1973/74 songs and new ones wouldn't gell very easily. The suggestion of a double cd - one of new songs, and one of re-recorded old stuff seems a much better idea though. Quite honestly though I'd prefer the old songs to remain as they are. We are all so used to the rough sound and sheer ferocity of those songs that I can't quite believe that any new versions will actually be an improvement. But as it seems like Iggy is determined to rework some tunes, then keeping them separate from any new songs seems the best option to me. Cheers, Richard | |

| Perhaps they should consider spending a bit of money on the producer this time. Rick Rubin would probably do a decent job. It'll be interesting to hear studio versions of these and I'd love it if it happened. It might even work mixing up new and old if they were the same quality (of song and recording). | |

| personally i don't see the point. they'll not have the same energy or effect as the demos and live stuff... i don't think iggy is in the same mind frame as he was when he wrote the lyrics. i doubt he relates to the song 'open up and bleed' anymore... | |

If he can't relate doesn't mean that he has forgotten how he felt when he wrote those songs. I think it can be done. And about the question on what producer, I think James can do it. He has done it before and why not now? I was thinking "Till the end of the night" to be recorded but I think it's pretty good as it is; the two versions that is out I mean.

| Agree mostly with Per's list to be recorded but am I the only one that thinks Wet My Bed is pretty weak?
And wasn't it mentioned in an old issue of Creem that Fresh Rag was actually recorded?

| I must take exception to those of you who think Iggy no longer can relate to how he felt when he wrote Open Up And Bleed. I think he remembers everything he went through to get where he is now every time he looks in the mirror.
To quote Mr Pop at the book signing "I have had a hard life". I know that to be true as I was around for 4 of those hard years.
Don't under estimate Iggy. If anybody can pull it off, it is Iggy!

| I agree, Natalie,
Open Up And Bleed might fit the best to be newly recorded, because its lyrics are written mostly in past tense.. |
