Hey, does anyone know the lyrics the frankly (born again to them) brilliant I got A Right and Gimme Some Skin, ano its Iggy so theyre all different probly, but does anyone know the lyrics to the Godfathers of LA Punk CDs versions?

Theres no other band/aritst/watever that comes close to how good the stooges are, everytime i think they mightnt be as good as i remember after not having listenin to them for a cuple weeks or months, they just pull you right back to it and like fuckin kick ya, but the pain's turned to delight, fuck i love the stooges

Here's the lyrics you wanted, or some of them at least, haha. "I Got A Right" is complete, but unfortunately "Gimme Some Skin" has some totally impenetrable lines making up most of the second verse.

As for which version is on the "Godfathers Of LA Punk" cd, from what I can tell, after a quick look on the internet, they're the original versions. Recorded in London, July '72.

That's pretty damn impressive, considering I've only been trying to figure that one out for about twenty-five years!, haha.

Any takers for the second verse?, all suggestions gratefully accepted.

P.S. I always thought that the second verse started with a girls name repeated a bunch of times, which would fit the overall Little Richard/50's R'N'R vibe of the song. Doesn't sound like Mary, more like "Biddy" ?!?!, but starting each verse with a different girls name is a pretty standard trick.

I thought it was Typhoid Mary/She's got soul/Sucks all night on an old asshole. I seem to remember reading it in an interview some time ago when Iggy was saying how he would receive royalty cheques for it every so often.

what i updated in the lines is definitely correct. i have a cassette of iggy speaking on the radio + he mentions these lines - while it's his favorite piece he ever recorded/wrote.

No problem. The Rubber Legs one won't be 100% accurate but I did my best.

Just listened to the Studio Sessions CD, most of it is poor quality, well theyre decent enuff, except for hard to beat and cock in my pocket, which i havent heard for weeks, how good is that song, its so forceful, i always forget how good stooges are for some reason, amean how great they are never slips, but how good the songs are just blows me away each time i go back u'no

Iggy should do a lyric book...kinda like what Lou Reed did.

Yeh he should, he's a really underrated lyricist, Mojo described it well in hte weirdness review they said he could "in one hand hold the world and in the other flip it off", im paraphrasing but it was somethingl like that, which i thought was funny and quite true, but he has a great way with lyrics i think, and he should produce a lyrics book

altho i think it would ruin some songs, its like reading a dylan or stones line you thougth was completely different, and one that spoke to you u'no and it turns out its this completely different line, with a completely different message u'no - spoils it somewhat, and with songs like gimme some skin, and rubber legs, and any of those rehearsals or anything i think its best to write the song yourself really, by trying to decipher the lyrics

also we wouldnt have the australian band Radio Birdman without mis-hearing a lyric "Radio burnin' up above" / "radio birdman up above"

(which i have to admit i thought was birdman for ages too!)
