Info from Per's book:
Ron Asheton, Iggy and Jimmy Recca in Los Angeles, March 1974. (Stooges Fun Club, collection / Gilles Scheps) Thanks! It all makes sense now. Thats 3 of them from the 1971 line up but taken a few years later when Jimmy and Ron were in The New Order.

| http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Hj4neqKqbSw/SXPDqPRgrFI/AAAAAAAAAgM/S34UlGPeH-M/s1600-h/stoogesnew.jpgThat's the URL for the cleaned up version of our rare Stooges photo which is left to right: Bill Cheetam, Zeke Zetner, Ron, Scott, Iggy. also on the same blog you can read Danny Field's tribute to Ronny and some great photos of Ron in '94 w/his favorite pistol in his favorite chair, and a great shot of Danny and Ron at Max's in '73 (just scroll down to the next entry). The pix of Ron w/the heater where taken by Gillian McCain at Ron's house when conducting the interviews for Please Kill me. | |

| Well, James joined towards the end of 1970, and Jimmy didn't play his first gig with them till April 1971, so there must have been a time (maybe just a few gigs in December 1970) when the line-up was Ig, James, Ron, Zeke and Scott.
I wonder if Steve Mackay was around for any of those first gigs with James? Now that woulda been something to hear!

| Zeke & Billy confusion
No, it's clearly Zeke to the far left in that group shot, Billy is second from the left (he's the tall guy).

Per Nope...Billy is the blond guy with the glasses. Zeke is the tall guy. This is Billy Cheatham playing guitar with Ron and Steve:

| I'm referring to the top photo on page 48 of the Matheu book, which I've seen on the forum, i.e. the fall 1970 line-up. That's Zeke to the far left and Billy second from the left. I think that photo shoot is from NY Oct 1970 when they played a couple of NY shows.

| I think Steve left the band some time between mid-September and mid-October 1970. Billy Cheatham appears to have continued a little longer. I think the studio shots of Zeke-Billy-etc. were taken in NY, where they played:
Friday-Saturday, 23-24 October 1970: Electric Circus, New York City, NY Saturday, 31 October 1970: The Ritz Theater, New York City, NY
They also played NY some time in September, at the Action House. However, that should have been when Steve was still part of the band.
