No argument there. It is their decision. But I think they'll take the high road and NOT call themselves The Stooges if they do proceed. I'm not so sure how I feel about Ron being replaced by James AGAIN though..

| If James is to come back, I'd preffer Iggy did a few tours without him first, so hes not seen as a replacement. And if theres an album it needs to be dedicated to Ron.
Its not fucking fair.

| I'd prefer them just quitting. Followed by some sort of big box of Stooges stuff. All the missing songs, demos and such. Iggy can then go do whatever he wants. Hope he keeps Scott occupied by the drums, he does it well there

| we're not deciding for them, its just fact, there cannot be any more stooges, how can anyone replace/replicate that sound, its not possible, if they recorded something for a new album and it was decent standard they might release that in tribute, but they literally cannot continue, iggy may do solo stuff after a couple years | |

| Thats a good idea Borntohula, but I think you may have mistaken me for thinking that The Stooges should go on. Personally I feel that without Ron it isn't The Stooges. End of. If James comes back Iggy should have a few tours before joining with Williamson so he isn't seen as a replacement. And I agree Scott should stay on drums if he wants to. A big box of Stooges stuff would sure be nice. | |

A big box of Stooges stuff would sure be nice. Naah naaah. I just wrote for myself, I had no comments on what you guys think. I mean, I see no problem with Sonic R Band going without Sonic. Some sorta tribute to Ron wouldn't be any problem. Even if they went on as the stooges. But the optimal thing would be to do as Led Zep did. But still, I see no problems with them doing what they want, even not the thing Iggy does on the TV for the car-something company... As long as I have copies of the first two albums, I can asure you that I'm perfectly happy

A big box of Stooges stuff would sure be nice. New York Dolls lives on without their most important person: Johnny Thunders. It´s not the original NY Dolls, but they are doing great as the restored NY Dolls. I love Johnny Thunders and loves NY Dolls old and new version. No conflict in that. Ron Asheton was the Stooges. I remember him and honour what Iggy decides to do with the future. Everything is gonna be some kind of tribute to Ron and the Stooges anyway.

| Good point iggy-fan. I think the new version of the Dolls works too. But I've seen too many of Iggy's guitarists over the years messing up Ron's riffs to think that the Stooges could carry on with, for example, Whitey, without sounding rubbish. Seeing the Stooges after seeing Iggy solo was incredible and made me realise how poor Iggy's other guitarists really were compared to Ron. I'll support Iggy whatever he does next but I hope that is the end of the Stooges. I'd like to keep my happy memories. | |

OK, could we please end this speculation on James Williamson rejoining some bastard child of the Stooges? Mr. Williamson is rather gainfully employed as a Vice President at Sony, and I imagine he's not exactly interested in slumming it any time in the near future. Dogen

Dogen You seem to not have read my previous comments. I've said multiple of times theres no Stooges without Ron. Hes the only constant member, others have missed shows or not been on albums - not Ron. Hes been on every album and played at every show. I miss him so much. I don't think I could go to another Iggy show I wouldn't want to spoil my memories. The world just gets shitter.

| well, it is a total bummer about ronnie--irreplaceable, etc... BUT--it's WAY too early to speculate about Iggy's future, especially in light of the current emotion. personally, i see no reason, whatsoever, that he can't continue to tour his solo shit (with stooges hits liberally sprinkled in the setlist). if scott wants along for the ride, great. the way i look at it, it won't be the stooges--BUT--iggy survives.
look at it another way--what if the terrible news had been about iggy? someday it WILL be--we're all gonna die.
why should all the people who have NEVER seen iggy live be deprived of that chance?
personally, KNOWING that someday the terrible news WILL be about iggy--makes me, more than ever, hope that he does keep touring as long as his health holds up.
sure, it won't be "the stooges"--BUT--iggy pop (under any circumstances, backing band or setlist) is still the most kickass band on the planet!
so, i just hope after the smoke clears--iggy soldiers on. (and, personally, i bet he will...)

| as i said, it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to imagine iggy won't soldier on. hopefully scott will come along for the ride. maybe he can get whitey back on guitar and mix the setlist up quite a bit. RIP ronnie--much love (of course)--BUT--life goes on... (all this said--WITH the obvious reality-- that alot of smoke has to clear, and emotions die down, in the face of this unimagineable tragedy) | |

| Quit a lot of the media today, state that the official statement of the members of the band hint at stopping. They conclude that from the fact that Ron is called irreplaceble and see that as a hint that indeed he won't be replaced | |

| We certainly will know know more in a few months time. What I really DON'T hope is that the Trolls guitar player Whitey Kirst will take "the job"....if there will be any plans to continue somehow.... | |

| Once the emotional impact of Ron's passing has died down a little I'm certain that Iggy will want to carry on. But the Stooges? Surely that's over now. It would just be too inappropriate for any future lineup to call itself the Stooges. Even if Scott and Mike and Steve carry on playing with Iggy I can't believe that they'd call the band the Stooges. It would be great if any unreleased recent Stooges tracks could be issued, as a kind of memorial to Ron. As jimmyo said - life goes on. And so will the memories of Ron's music.

| I agree, I don't think this is the time for any of them to make a decision on the future. I can't imagine any of them to be seriously thinking about that right now. So any statement now will be an emotional one | |

Richard Agreed. Time will tell. It wouldn't be right to continue as The Stooges, as Ron is irreplaceable.
