TED, I have only been able to come up with those three so far (besides the cover for Lid #3 which has been posted before I believe). I'm not quite sure how many shots were actually circulated from that particular shoot. I'm hoping that there are some more Malanga/Iggy shots out there somewhere.

| Scott, it's a silk screen print on paper made by my friend Ann Pethers. That's the first time I've seen the original photo by Chester Simpson. | |

Images by Fabrice Demessence Thanks for that one Scott! The Ashetons look so cool here. I was also wondering what kinda hotel Stooges stayed in haha. The room rates ranged from 500 up to almost 6200 euros!! That's hell of a price lol ( of course I know they didnt pay for the stay themselves )

| You know, there's cool, and then there is something that far surpasses cool - and that is the Asheton Brothers. When I saw this image (me for the first time as well), it was like - 'man, there will never be anyone that even comes close to these guys'. Truly a great image, and testament to the Stooges legacy! | |

| The Ashetons were the best bros in music. Damn I miss Ron. But at least we DO have Scott. I've heard it thru the grapevine that Scott may be selling merch sometime soon. Can't say any more than that yet. But if I hear more I'll spill it right here. | |

true! altho I don't really know how to describe some of Ron's early photos, in particular, other than as being the coolest I've ever seen. And, of course, to my mind (and I don't care how often I say it) some of Dave's are the sexiest Like the one to the left here!

| The Asheton's gave The Stooges an almost street credibility something that Iggy, although iconic, never had and neither did Dave.
They were genuine problem kids playing music not some idiot with a musical degree or a bunch of popular high school stars.
You can hear the anger and isolation in the music, it's what makes it so powerful.

| 'an almost street credibility'? strange phrase...
Talking just about Ron,I hear far more than anger and isolation in his playing. If it were only that (like a million subsequent 'punk' kids) the interest would wear off. He got something infinitely more out of that guitar, which no other player, no matter how gifted, seems to get. Chopin was hailed as the natural poet of the piano; I think Ron more than anyone else was the natural poet of the electric guitar. Probably I'm in a minority in thinking this, but Iggy, at least, has talked of the lyricism in Ron's playing, and he was absolutely right to do so. If anyone else has given due weight to this very vital aspect of Ron's playing I would love to know.
Oh yes, and I've just realized that this is the pictures thread. Sorry.

| hmm...'an almost street credibility', don't really know what that means either. and if y're bringing up street credibility at all, in what sense did Iggy and Dave not have it?? Iggy I assume you mean because he was the college-going type to begin with, or something like that, but Dave??
also dorianmode I'm totally with you on Ron being the natural poet of the electric guitar!

also dorianmode I'm totally with you on Ron being the natural poet of the electric guitar! Of course I believe Ron has all sorts of emotions in his playing but there's a unique anger and isolation in all his work from love songs like "Ann" and "I Wanna Be Your Dog" to songs about boredom and depression like "No Fun", "1969" and "Dirt". It's a genuine anger and isolation not some fake whiny pop-punk moaning. "Street credibility" like they were real people you would not want to mess with. Dave came from a pretty well-off family and Iggy like you said was a "college-going type" for a long time. The Ashetons never changed they were always 100% real and never pretented to be anything different. They were real outsiders.

| I have got the same impression as G, F#, E. Although many articles i've read describe Dave Alexander as a far gone hoodlum along with Scott. In the Raw Power book Iggy says that he feels Scott gave the group a 'street credibility', whatever that actually means further than as an image. | |
