i don't think he'll play

even if they managed to get him onstage for a song or two it would have to be rehearsed a bit beforehand, no? he can't just go up on stage, especially after like 30 years of being offstage and mostly, not even playing the guitar, i'd doubt he would do it

but, prove me wrong!

im actually not that excited about this, which is strange considering its james and a possibly stooges MK2 mini-reunion or someting, but i dunno, just not stooges without Ron, just feels weird or something

on the other hand, an iggy solo tour i'd be excited about, but i feel stooges just arent the stooges anymore

anyway i hope he will play it might be nice i guess, just hope it isnt taken too far and they start going round as stooges, though i doubt that'd happen!

James wrote this on his Facebook page when everybody got excited hoping he would play with Iggy tonight:

Then I wrote: Wish I lived in La La land. Where all the action is. James if you go backstage and talk to Iggy, come back here and tell us every single word you said to each other will ya? Have fun!

And it ended with:

i know he's played that,but, from recollection, i think he said he hadnt played for like 30 years before recently picking up the gutar again. thats what i was referring to

I thought Iggy would only do solo songs too HJW. I love Steve Jones but doing Ron songs only a few months after his passing? Ok it was a benifit but it feels disrespectful to me.

When you jam what songs do you play? How about songs everyone knows maybe??? Classics maybe? They probably didnt even soundcheck. Iggy didnt play those songs ONLY with the Stooges, remember. Or Passenger WITH the Stooges for that matter. Be careful coming even close to criticising Iggy with me ha ha;)

Its so cool that Flea was wearing a Minuteman T shirt:) Watt couldn't make it cos he was touring with his own band. Now that WAS respect;)

I put The Stooges songs in bold. Iggy did do those songs solo but that was after The Stooges had broken up. Since he says The Stooges still exist and since Ron's death was only several months ago then he should have not done them out of respect. He could have done all manner of songs off of "Lust For Life" and "The Idiot" which are more well known than the songs off of "Fun House" and are also called classics. So yes I am critisizing Iggy, I love him but in my opinion he did the wrong thing here.

i just figured they'd play iggy solo songs, its great they played early stooges songs and even more so if everyone knew them, in which case it is a fitting tribute to the man who played the guitar on them

Think I better let loose of the notion that James will get on a stage again and continue where he left off with Iggy 30 years ago. He ain't gonna play Raw Power or Kill City songs ever again. I usually get what I want--I can REALLY pester and nag. But I'm giving up on this. James sounds kinda PO'd when people even mention the idea. I'll continue to wear out old James/Iggy recordings and move the fuck on.



On the positive Flea is mighty fine. And Steve Jones ... well I guess he's as good as anybody else out there. GREAT setlist. Lucky Geneveive THE ultra fan.

now iggy just needs to put together a touring band and get on the road.

nothing against ron, BUT, (if iggy has intentions of keeping his career viable) it's time to move on.

IF iggy is serious about touring again, the SOONER he throws something together the better.

I don't doubt Iggy will get back to touring. Like I've said before, all power to him and Steve and everybody else, but I just keep on wondering about Scott, and missing Ron like hell. No use in telling myself to get over missing Ron, either, because I never will.
Wonder how Steve Jones makes those ol' Ron classics sound. I haven't heard the stuff he's done before with Iggy but I really liked his stuff with the Pistols.
