Robin Seymour's Swingin' Time Empty
PostSubject: Robin Seymour's Swingin' Time   Robin Seymour's Swingin' Time Icon_minitimeSat Jun 13, 2009 1:52 am

I Read like 2 years ago that The Stooges played on Swingin Time in 1969 and Peformed 1969 & I Wanna Be Your Dog.

Is there any footage of the show with The Stooges?

I have searched for this, very elusive. If it happened it was broadcast on TV56 out of Detroit, same channel that aired the famous MC5 show where they did Black to Comm in Oct. 1967, albeit that was a different show. Have went as far as contacting the station which is located in Wixom, Michigan. It used to be located in Detroit, now in the suburbs. Anyhow they have no old footage, all gone and they have no idea what happened to it.

The Robin Seymour show was filmed in Windsor, Ontario in the Riverside Drive studios of CKLW-TV. This was the tv adjunct of CKLW 800 AM radio, or 'The Big 8'. CKLW radio was huge at the time and was the first to broadcast Iggy, MC5, Alice etc.

In 1970 the Canadian gov't decided that CKLW TV, being essentially American-owned, was playing only the bare-minimum of Canadian content and the station was taken over by the CBC.

I saw the Stooges appearance (think I've discussed this in another thread) around '85/'86 when the station was CBET or the local Channel 9. I assume this part of a Big 8 retrospective. As of this time, the video still existed. If it was deemed important enough to be re-aired almost 20 yrs. later, I doubt it's been erased in the interim.

I would suggest that pursuing the CBC, specifically the CKLW-TV or CBET film archives would be the place to check for this lost footage. Channel 9 was mothballed years ago due to budget cuts, but the film cannisters might still be there. If not, a chain of custody might be available somewhere.

Trailerborn, so it's not TV 56, it's TV9, remember watching Hockey Night in Canada on that station. Thanks for the lead.

Here's a website that has more info on Swingtime, circa, 1966.
But someone has copies.

somebody must have taped this in 85/86!
