I know of Pete Townshend, Jeff Beck and Hendrix. Do you know of any other influences Ron named in interviews? If you do, I'd like to check them out.

Brian Jones. He was a BIG influence on Ron. "All those little quirky guitar parts", as Ron put it.

Ron was also into the Brian Jones look.
As for guitarplaying, Roger McGuinn also.

Ron could almost pass for Brian in some early shots. Ron was better looking though.

Hi all,i'm new to this forum.I'd say Ravi Shankar was a big influence on
his soloing as you can hear on the first album. You can find a video on
youtube where he displays a raga style lick similar to the solo on
"come together" from the "kick out the jams" album.
Hope my english isn't too bad....

Welcome Boogie! You're right about Ravi Shankar. Solo in 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' is definately in the style of a raga.

I know who Ravi Shankar is, and roughly what his sound is - anyone got a listening recommendation?
