In my opinion, if they ever join Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, Williamson would perform with Asheton on guitars and Mike Watt on bass In that case I don't believe Ron will ever want to be demoted to bass again. I think personally, that this was even quite not fair to force him to play bass during Raw Power era..

Though with that said, I don't understand the bit about playing bass being a "demotion". The bass is every bit as important. And Ron did a hell of a job for a guy who hated it. Still, Ron does belong on guitar.

| I was wondering the same thing today : how it would sound with Ron and James playing the guitar.
(of course bass is very important ; but I think if I had played the guitar in a band on two albums, I wouldn't be very happy to be called to play the bass)

But still, it's important. Beats being sacked.

| And, no, it's not necessarily a demotion to move from guitar to bass, of course - but Ron playing guitar the way he does it's pretty much criminal for him to do anything else. Not that he DOESN't play a resoundingly good bass, too (although not as good as Dave Alexander's) but it WAS a demotion for him. | |

| Could someone tell me, is it James Williamson that is responsible for chord sequences that go like this?
D|7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7 A|7-7-5-7-7-7-5-7 E|5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5

| which song are these chords supposed to be part of? I think they are used in rock'n'roll music, but I'm not such an expert with theory | |

| That's what I mean. Oh, it's also in No Fun...I guess I'm wrong. But in general the Stooges were the band that used these chord sequences. The earliest example I know at least. | |

| The chord sequence in that particular order would be definitely Wild Love. But I get what you mean. Simplicity speaks greater volumes than technical wizardry in REAL FUCKIN' ROCK & ROLL. RON ASHETON IS GOD. Who else has made three simple chords sound so cool? Funny thing is, as a guitarist myself I always looked up to those "million miles an hour" players. A couple of them I still do. But Ron has taught me how to appreciate and get the most out of the GROOVE, rather than the flash. He's unknowingly helped me to be a better player. Bless his soul. Oh yeah...I looked up and remembered this is James' thread. Whoopsie! James is awesome in his own way, of course. | |

True. For my inspiration in such dirty, raw rock'n'roll or whatever, James and Ron are the influences - Loose1969 wrote:

So? Both of them are Stooges
