| athens, as you know, is a city that iggy truly loves. during the 80's-90's he was worshiped like a greek god here and became something like emperor of greece. his concerts were always absolute triumphs. however, as sad as it is for me to say, the greek crowd doesn't deserve iggy anymore. as i'm still very tired and still in shock, i'll just give you the plain facts in brief: iggy came onstage like a storm and just gave everything and more. he did one stagedive after the other, and in fact spend a lot of time of the first part of the show in the crowd. he was unbelieavable, even with his own unique standards. just incredible. during "i feel alright" he hit some notes so high i've never heared from him before. actually i was expecting him and the band a bit tired as they had played so many gigs in the previous weeks, and paris just two days before, but he performed like there was no tomorrow. even after the show was over, the band was packing instruments and people were leaving, he returned on stage, called the band back, and said "i will do one more song for you guys, 'cause you're weird". and this was when it all turned bad, for a gig that otherwise would have been a top one. as iggy had kneeled at the front of the stage to introduce "i'm fried", a squeezed tin can was thrown by a total jerk, flew like a ninza weapon and hit iggy on the forehead, right above his eye........... iggy started bleeding badly and was dizzy, this was all too bad, too freaking bad. still, GOD iggy pop went on and sung the song, holding a towel on his face to stop the blood.... he said "you can't stop me, i am immortal!" and yes, he IS!!! we all know that. even if his body dissapears in, say, a century from now, he will still be immortal!!! we all KNOW. this time he said it himself as well; we'd better all believe it. however, and as it's the second time a thing like this happens in greece, and as sad as it is for me to say, the greek audience -that was as well very cold this time- doesn't deserve iggy pop giving his heart and soul for them, let alone his blood... | |

| Thanks for the report from Greece. Sounds like a terrific gig, as usual, but what a shame some asshole had to throw a can at Iggy. I'll never understand why people do this, and at a performer who has given his all to put on a brilliant show. Some people just don't deserve to go to great gigs, they just don't have any respect for other people and especially for the guys on stage. Full marks to Iggy for soldiering on, what a trouper, what an indomitable spirit and what a generous performer. He refused to let one little prick spoil what was clearly a great show. That is why Iggy is star, and a gentlemen, and truly one of the greatest performers alive. Long may he continue! Cheers, Richard | |

| *sigh* You know, it's bad enough that crowds take whacks at the people on stage (I remember them putting up plexi-glass walls at one of the recent "Woodstock"s so the instruments wouldn't be ruined), but you're also robbing the audience - who paid good money to be there, too - of their show. I wonder if there was any instant karma for the person that did that, if you know what I mean. "I'm immortal!" - what a self-rallying cry. I'm going to try that at work (in my head - maybe!) next week and see if I feel better. | |

| http://hootpage.com/hoot_stoogestourdiary2007d.htmlMike Watt has updated his diary to include a report of this Athens gig. There's also a close up photo of Iggy's bruised and cut forehead taken in the dressing room after the show. Looks pretty nasty, but the 'immortal' Iggy is still smiling. What an incredible guy! Cheers, Richard | |

| Why in the fuck would anyone do that shit? Fucking idiot should be shot, then hanged. Or the other way around, I don't care.
Considering the kind of show Iggy puts on, they oughta be kissing his ass, not trying to kill it..

| For as long as I can remember and I have seen The Stooges many times there are always assholes at the shows. Why anyone pays money for a ticket to see someone they don't like has always amazed me. I think some of these moron's are just plain jealous of Iggy, knowing that they never can or will be as cool as him. At the Detroit show last April some dumb fuck sitting next to me starting shouting " fuck you " over and over, like a drunken fucking mantra. But my favorite memory is from the late seventies on Iggy's so called comeback tour after hanging out in Berlin with Bowie. The Six Mile Road Boys from Detroit and myself had third row center tickets at Masonic Temple. The show became the hottest ticket in town after it was announced that Bowie would be appearing with Iggy. The warm up band was Blondie, and they beat the shit out of their gear and walked off the stage in disgust after the cold reception from the Detroit audience. As soon as Iggy and Bowie started playing these two losers started trouble in the center aisle, blocking our view. The Lantz Brothers kicked their ass before the ushers arrived, and anyone else considering jumping into the fight has second thoughts after seeing a whole row of diehard Detroit born and bred Stooges fans standing by as back up. The fight actually stopped the song for a few minutes, Later, in a Rolling Stone interview, Iggy commented that the fight was " spoiled suburbanites ". Sorry , James , but we were just some poor working class dudes from Motown wearing expensive leathers.. | |

| Wow, what a story...I bet you've got a million of 'em!
Yeah, I dunno what it is either...Iggy's shows bring out some real weird and fucked up characters. Maybe because they see him as a bizzare icon and they have to be cruel and inhuman to please the god. lol.

| I was there (i live in Athens) and indeed there are plenty of "malakes" here to do this kind of shit. But, "tyroneweaver" i return you the insult as Iggy is worshipped here as the god of the scene with only Lemmy to equal him... | |
