I've got that particular mag. Kim is no slouch himself, and I really dig Soundgarden. The man knows his guitarists!

It's good to see Peter Green, Mick Taylor, and Malcolm Young get some attention, they are all very under appreciated. I also love to see Frank Zappa mentioned anywhere, but I am so fucking sick of Dweezil. I understand he is the guys son, and yes he is out there playing the music, but he really just rubs me wrong.

I agree on all points. Especially Mick Taylor. When he left the Stones they just weren't the same. Ron Wood sucks.

Absolutley. I do like some stuff post Mick Taylor, but me liking it has nothing to do with Ron Wood. However me liking Mick Taylor era stones has a lot to do with him. His playing on Bitch kills me every time. Once I realized that a lot of the great guitar playing that I had just assumed was Kief because he was the guitarist was actually Mick, that was a big shift for me. Same with Malcolm Young, once I realized he wrote all the songs and just hung AC/DC together, that was a big shift in my thinking about music.

Yea, I wouldn't exactly say he sucks, but he is not one of my favorites. He is good. I like the Faces and I do like some of his era Stones, but as I said, it has little to do with him or his playing.

Ronnie has feeling. I always liked that Dylan cover:

You like Frank Zappa, we will never agree on anything.

Ouch. That's paradoxical. Does that mean we can't simultaneously like the Stooges? I'll give you every odd second and I'll take the evens. Any particular reason I shouldn't like Zappa?

Not really, re paradoxical, I would imagine we just hear different things in them, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Re Zappa, where would I begin?
Soulless? Smug? Tedious? Pretentious? Premeditated to the point of atrophy? The musical equivalent of listening to someone telling you how much their house is worth?

I knew I'd get spanked over my Wood comment. Allow me to rephrase completely, which I should.
Ron Wood sucks in the context of being a Rolling Stone. I stand by that. BUT, his work with Faces is another thing. He had that raunch 'n roll sound nailed. I should have elaborated a bit more, I guess. Let's just say the Stones have never been the proper fit for Woody.

That was fucking stellar! I've always loved his version of that song but this one with Booker T. doing the organ solo and Wood trading locks with Steve Cropper was excellent. Any idea where it's from?

Dirt, I believe. Can't swear to that, but I'm pretty sure.

I think Ron Woods a great guitarist (and a great stone!) he's a tremendous slide guitarist, and he was great in the faces
mick taylor was brilliant, gave the stones what they needed, pity he didnt stay longer, though i do think Ron Wood is the perfect couterbalance to Keith and fits in well with the band (and can hopefully get his shit together for another round!)
