Thanks for posting. An interesting read.
Wish they'd have happened, i wouldn't have been born to attend but just to get some more recording from the time.
Early 70s Iggy On the Whistle Test? Wonder what Bob Harris would've made of that?

| I had no idea of that. What happened? Wow. Iggy (and The Stooges) at Norwich Theatre Royal??! Malvern??!? Bizarre!! But no mention of those no-hopers 'The Stooges' - it was all Iggy. How did those dates fall through? | |

| I bet the band got dropped by Mainman in the month or so prior to these gigs, therefore they didn't play them. Very interesting though the fact that they were potentially booked to play in England, first I have ever heard about this. Thanks for posting. | |

| Fascinating that dates were actually booked. This would have been about a year after MainMan had dropped the Stooges, so the failure of the gigs wouldn't have been due to that. I wonder if the Stooges were even considered for these gigs. If not, then who would have backed Iggy? Presumably a band of some sort must have been ready as the article refers to the dates as happening "at the end of this month". It's so great when press clippings like this come to light. Thanks Iggy Fan, for finding and posting it. Cheers, Richard | |

| So who or what organisation would have had him (or them?) booked into those dates? The venues and dates are v specific. I mean if Mainman had wiped their hands of The Stooges ... who was trying to promote them (I mean him) at that time.. ??? | |

| Good question. After being dropped by MainMan the Stooges were picked up by Helen Reddy's husband Jeff Wald who was responsible for their bookings from the summer of 1973 onwards. But after the Metallic KO gig when Iggy said he'd had enough and the band called it a day, I wonder who was their manager then? You're quite right Woody - this isn't some vague possible tour. According to the report specific dates had actually been booked. Someone must have had control of this. Anyone got any ideas? Cheers, Richard | |

| But the photo in the article was taken in July 1972 (Kings Cross Scala gig, right?), so the dates couldn't refer to 1972. | |
