Did Iggy have much to do with CBGB in say 74-76??

That's what I was wondering too. Iggy was never really a big part of that CBGB crowd was he? I'm surprised that someone has been cast as Iggy ahead of far more important characters from that scene like Tom Verlaine and Television or David Byrne and Talking Heads.
Having said that though, Taylor Hawkins isn't a bad match for Iggy.
But some of the other casting!! Rupert 'Ron Weasley' Grint as Cheetah Chrome?? Hmmm.

The nostalgia-trip is everything these days - 'investors' have acquired the CBGB assets and so on. Not a bad thing in itself, if the CBGB name is exploited... but where's the Next Big Thing in the midst of all the retro-fascination? - and btw how on earth to do justice to real history, without offending/misrepresenting/re-writing or otherwise pissing off people who were actually there at the time?

I suppose the main thing is how youngsters today are mythologising their parents' music, whereas 30-40 years ago we kids were really disgusted by our parents' music... which is why we had to be part of something different and new.

Maybe rock and roll is now truly decadent. I really wish there was some new music which would offend me, now I'm old, but I'm not hearing any.

Re Iggy - maybe he is now such a huge name in the general public consciousness that the film can benefit from including him for the extra publicity, even if it means transplanting him from Berlin to the Bowery?
