I wonder if it would be possible to create a file to catalogue all pictures of the Stooges 1967-74 that are available on the Internet? It seems a worthwhile project. Is anyone up to it? I think it would be possible to pinpoint gig info for most of the circulating pictures (even distinguishing between different Whisky gigs in 1973). Per

That would be a wonderful thing - a visual history of the band.
Does any other rock and/or roll and have such a thing?
Maybe The Stooges could be the first.

And there are loads of pictures elsewhere, of course.
The thought occurred that it might be a good idea to attempt to categorize the pictures, as I see a lot of speculation, "when/where is this from?" It must be possible to put all pictures from Academy of Music 12/31/1973 into one place, etc. Then we might collect pictures that we haven't been able to date/place more accurately, for debate about when/where they come from, etc.
I don't have the technical skills, etc., but I'd gladly help out trying to categorize/date the pictures. Photographers must be credited to make it legit.

A dedicated 1967-1974 well laid out website is a great idea. I don't have the technical skill or the time at the moment but would certainly be happy to help.

If your documentation is expanded with sub-categories it would be pretty much what I had in mind. The 1971 pictures, for example, would then be classified into the various gigs (Chicago, Electric Circus, St. Louis...) and/or time periods (for off-stage pictures). I think we can pinpoint most w. the help of the fan community!
I noticed the Leni Sinclair pictures which you have as 1971 - I think they're from earlier. Do we have any verification of them being from 1971?

Great idea! Maybe possible to do a timeline in a closed FB group with folders with each show or photosession etc.

Agreed. Myspace is simple to use but it has it's limits; a dedicated website would certainly be the way to go. Maybe there is a good template that can be used so not too much programming is involved.
I've just received Leni Sinclair's/Gary Grimshaw's new book Detroit Rocks and this has the photos of Iggy (in sleeveless top) at the SRC concert listed as 1971. The one photo that looks to be incorrect is the one of Iggy in the dark rain-jacket. Detroit Rocks has that as 1969 at the Detroit Rock & Roll Revival Festival.

Does it state when/where the SRC gig occurred? Was it any of these (outdoor gigs, from SRC website):
8/21/1971 The Park, Route 18 (I-75) & Hough Road, New Baltimore, Ohio Alice Cooper, SRC, Ormandy, Reginal True Rabbitt, Abu-Tala 8/29/1971 Diane Oughton Memorial Park - A2 SRC, Walrus, Sweet Pain 9/18/1971 The Park, Route 18 (I-75) & Hough Road, New Baltimore, Ohio Chuck Berry, The Woolies, SRC, The Up, The Sunday Funnies, Reginal True Rabbitt

Location is not stated in the book, but on Leni's Myspace page she has the photo labeled as "Free Concert in Ann Arbor, MI 1971" so my best guess would be Diane Oughton Memorial Park as that is in Ann Arbor.

I'm a little rusty, but I might be able to make a descent(probably not awesome) looking web-site. It's not impossible for me, depending however if I got the time do do it?
Should only one person be able to alter information or is it better with several admins. Having more admins will do the task much harder, and take longer to complete. Though should be possible for me. For making an admin system with posting of pictures I have not the knowledge to yet however.(might learn perhaps?) But are able to make a system where several admin's can f. ex add text to a picture.
Buying reasonable fast server-space might have a cost though, but probably not much. I've got a web-server running at my home computer, that would of course made it free. My line is reasonable fast, but not sure if it's enough..
Give me your thoughts on this..

Sounds like a very worthy enterprise, which everyone could support. Probably best to have one editor, but so long as there's easy means to suggest information and to supply photos (or links), maybe via e-mail? Or a guest-book, or however these things work.
I hope it wouldn't need too much time. Maybe the internet makes this sort of thing super-easy?? But I doubt it somehow.

Chuck I can send you all the photos I have if you plan to do this. I think one person should have admin status on this (ie you).

Okay, so if this is happening, we'll go for a 1 admin site. Here's what I do.. I'll start doing a test project, put into the internet running from my own computer/server, and post you back, with a link here, so we can democratically go on about how we want things to look/work at this page.
I will maybe need some of you to help testing the test-page with different kind of internet browsers(we might settle with support for the most known though..? Opera, Firefox, (or the programmers nightmare) Internet Explorer). Cross-browser support is one of the hardest and most tedious tasks when making a page.
Thanks mc, I'll send you a pm with my e-mail. However there's no rush, as the "shell" needs to made first.
I'll keep you updated.

PLEASE do not assume that you have all possible rights to use whatever photos you dig up on the internet. Not every photographer has a full time assistant dedicated to chasing down those who've illegally grabbed photos over the entire internet. Fair use law does not necessarily cover making paid for photos into web freebies...

Nice one Stooges did you make it? The 1969 photos are great too, I guess from the New York Pavilion gig.
