| According to Amazon the new reissue of Metallic KO came out yesterday 24th September. It's on the Jungle label - B000PTYNH2. It's a straight reissue of the original vinyl from 30 odd years ago as far as I can tell (so it's different from recent two disc issues of the album)and according to the blurb it has been remastered. So, my question is this? If you've got it / heard it - how does the sound compare with previous versions? Is the quality sufficiently remastered / improved to make me want to buy this album yet again? Cheers, Richard | |

What puzzles me is, how I got a copy BEFORE THE RELEASE DATE?? I checked the numbers on the cd and it is definitely the new one. And it clearly states that it has been speed corrected, with a reference to it being done in 2007. Who knows...I guess I just lucked out!

| Thanks for the link. Sounds pretty good, but does anyone think it's better, (or a slightly different speed / pitch for that matter) from earlier versions? I'm not so sure, but I'd value a second or third opinion. Cheers, Richard | |

| I have both Metallic 2XKO and recently Metallic KO, i was annoyed at myself cos ive been spendin alot of money on CDs recently, and i thought this a frivalous venture, but i listened to it tonite after havin it for about a week, and it was soo worth it, i like Metallic 2XKO but it is outta pitch on some songs, this one is so compact and poignant, the sound of the earlier '74 show is good, and shows the stooges sounding great at their like 5th zenith, but this was weird i thought, listenin to Head On; why did i pay the exact same money for a CD with less tracks and the same sound?, thinknin i would ask for a refund or ebay it, and then all of a sudden, i remember why i love the stooges so much, i hear Iggy's dynamic voice booming ''Which one will we do?'' and band chatter and ''this is a song my mother and i wrote'' then ''One, Two, Three Fuck You Pricks!!'' and the opening chords of 'Cock In My Pocket' bursting through the speakers at me, which i had to turn up because the earlier '74 gig tracks werent that loud, and it was fantastic i can clearly see why the brits went mad in 76 to it, and it didnt end, the huge and remastered and rediscovered 10minute ''Rich Bitch'' ''for all you hebrew ladies in the audience'' and then Iggy berating the audience as the stuff thrown up at them is finally audible, maybe its me but i cant hear the alleged nikon cameras, shovels, eggs, beer & wine bottles being hurled onto the stage on Metallic 2XKO, but on this one i can, then they break into 'Louie, Louie' and the crunch and solidity of Williamson's chords are fantastic not to mention Iggy's impromptu lyrics ''her ass was black/ and her tits were bare''.
Seriously, its great, im keeping both, but this is my favourite of the two definitly, worth the buy i think, at least for the context

| Back when I lived in Ann Arbor in the later 70s I knew a guy by the name of Steve T. who used to hang with the Stooges in Birmingham (relatively wealthy Detroit suburb kind of like Bloomfield Hills, not industrial English city). Anyway he was at the "last Stooges show" that is one half of the Metallic KO LP.He described a situation where part of the audience was girls who wanted to fuck Iggy, part was bikers who wanted to kill him and the rest were people who wanted to witness the general commotion and mayhem. The band was stuck in the dressing room where someone inside was beating on the door with a length of chain to keep people out and the Detroit police were enlisted to provide an escort on a beer run for the band. I lost touch with Steve when I moved away from A2. He was a bit of a character who had his hair dyed purple back in those high school Birmingham days befor I met him. Last I heard he went to law school. | |

| Glad you guys like this one, I hassled Mr Zermati (from Skydog) for a couple of years to re-release that one as it originally was, and he gave me kudos when Jungle announced the release, for making the suggestion | |

| I just won the original Metallic 2 X KO LP from Skydog records on eBay, supposed to have only been played once or twice. I also won this: THE STOOGES AT THE WHISKEY A GOGO LP Paris Pressing NM and this: Iggy and the Stooges EP Raw Power / Pure Lust 2 EPs thse I think are also French pressings, only 3000 were made of each one?
Is that Skydog double LP at the right pitch?

If the original recording done at the concert was not running at the correct speed there is no way of knowing the exact pitch because bands didn't even use tuners in those days or very rarely, how far off is it? Is it too fast or too slow?

In Trynka's book, IIRC, he discussed how pitch-corrected versions were delivered to the record company and they said no thanks. I have the book in front of me but can't find the quote...maybe it was on Trynka's website?
