| Thursday night special on Danny Fields, includes priceless phone conversation between Danny Fields and Iggy Pop in April of 1971. Plus Stooges playing early rendition of 'Loose' over the phone for him in 1970. http://wfmu.org/playlists/MS | |

| It's the latest show. Fantastic find, thanks so much for sharing. Wonderful taped phone call with Nico too... and Jonathan Richman, and Tommy Ramone. Fantastic to hear this. Thanks again Funhousehideaway#2! Super cool. Wait there's an emoticon for this... here we go - | |

| Iggy bit starts at 1h59m What's that bit of Loose right after, is it from the Funhouse boxset or something new?
Danny pretty much recorded every phone call he had so hope there's lots more with Iggy in Danny Says.

| I would hazard a guess that 'Loose' was recorded over the phone while they were cutting the album. The voice that cuts in early sounds like the same voice on the Funhouse box set, one of the engineers. But then again there's no real lyrics. Will have to double check with the box set. | |

Isn't it "Loose (Demo)" from Funhouse Sessions disc 1, track 11? I think there's some confusion here and it isn't recorded over the 'phone. It's just played immediately after the recorded call with Iggy from 1971.

| Andrew, you're right. That's the exact cut from the Funhouse boxset. So it wasn't over the phone, they played a studio demo of "Loose" | |

| I've always wondered whether that so called demo of "Loose" on the Funhouse boxset is actually "Loose", or just the band jamming on some yet unidentified composition. If you read Natalie Schlossman's Popped notes the song existed in the bands live set long before the Funhouse sessions began, so why would it have been in such embryonic form when the sessions started?
The phone calls are nice, but I'm just glad Danny Fields had the good sense to record the band live in 1971. I'm sure part of this had to do with his intrigue about the bands new repertoire but to keep these tapes in pristine condition, well my hats off to him.

| Well at least the New York shows were in pristine condition. The Detroit show, err, not so much. | |
