| It says 'Won’t be in Austin for Vans’ SXSW Showcase presented by Fat Possum Records or the four full days of music at House of Vans from March 13th-16th? Be right there amongst the crowd at the Mohawk through the live webcast powered by Seagate.' Live webcast?... that sounds good! | |

| Looks like it's Larry on drums. I thought maybe Scott, since he played at the last Austin show. http://www.tobydammit.com/tours/2013.htmlWish me luck; I might hafta crash the gates since I don't want to pay $795 to register for SXSW. It's outdoors, though. Maybe I can at least hear it! Steve | |

| Well, anyone else just seen that? It was storming. New songs all sounding great, the band looked happy, maybe having a bunch of new tunes is a very good thing for them too. Lap steel for Ron, Funhouse encore, what a treat. Even more impatient for the new album now, based on what they just played live. | |

| Sorry I wish I had had the tech to save it. Hope someone did somewhere.
As Iggy said, this was the premiere of these new songs, so it was a moment to savour. I'd like to see it again, for sure.

| Well, I wasn’t able to get inside the show exactly. The entire block was crammed with people hoping to get in. I did go in for the daytime showcase and checked out the venue and it was SMALL! I hung out and hoped not to get kicked out when they changed over to the night showcase, but the security sweep was pretty thorough. I considered hiding out in a port-a-potty but that wouldn’t have worked I don’t think. This place was so small that it doesn’t have a backstage area. I was hanging out by the back door while equipment was being loaded in and out and noticed some of the Stooges’ road guys walking down the block and back several times. After a couple of trips I decided to follow them and noticed them enter a house down the block and across the street. I walked up and there was Steve MacKay sitting on the front porch. I gave him a “Blow, Steve!” and he hollered back. I walked a little further down and there’s Iggy sitting on the sill of a closed window directing a practice in a small room. That was cool. I watched for a while and Iggy turned around and looked at me with a “Oh-no-we’re-found-out” face but once he realized no one else was there he just smiled and waved. Most of the band arrived at the venue a little later after a one-block drive in a van (MacKay walked). I was cool; they jumped right out of the van and on to the stage and took off. Since the gig was outdoors and the stage was only on cinder block wall from the street, it was easy to hear the show and I think there were more people enjoying the gig outside than there were inside. If you were able to catch the webcast, you saw what happened next (I only heard it!). In case you didn’t here’s the set list: Raw Power Gimme Danger Burn New song (“Fucked Up”?) New song (“Beat that Guy”?) 1970 New Song (“Sex & Money”?) New Song I got a Job New Song (Dirty Deal) New Song (“Double D’s”?) IWBYD New Song (“Party Girls” maybe?) – Has the same music from “Ron’s Tune” from the Ann Arbor show A nice speech by Iggy about Ron S&D Ready To Die No Fun Funhouse Iggy and Nina were in a car and driving away while the last sustained notes of Funhouse were still playing! The new songs sounded great. I hope they sound as good on the record (I remember the Weirdness tunes sounded good live, too, and we all know how that album came out). So is there anywhere where I can download the show (even just the audio would be great)? | I worked at recording it but couldn't, I'm sure it's out there. My connection hosed up a few times but it was really good, the only new song I didn't like was the double D song, the rest were good to very good at least to me, my connection locked right around "Ron's Tune" and came back at "No Fun" - woody wrote:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_qW0FEsvl8 Fantastic performance of "Burn"! I actually think this sounds as good as the "Raw Power" songs. i agree, i think its great live, and it does sound very raw power but not in a hokey retread way, can't wait for a live album to follow
