I can't see Iggy being overly upset about this, he doesn't have to do anything and it will possibly expand their fan base. When they tour again it will also open up the possibility of duets with guest stars. I can only see good in this

uh oh: UPDATE: A spokesperson for Iggy Pop released the following statement to Rolling Stone: "Iggy was never given an opportunity to participate on the album. He found out about the project in December of 2013 after it was rejected by a Chicago label."

Anyone who takes "spin"- who told whom what and when- at face value might be a tad naive about the office politics of the music business. If the Ig found out about it Dec. 13 and the project got going Jan. 14, perhaps the the right hand spin should be talking to the left hand spin...

"The guys in the touring group have been phoning and emailing me and my rep before during and after the recordings, wondering how I felt about this. These guys are my friends and we've all worked together many years. I am glad someone is paying them; they are working musicians and they need to play. I want to thank all the wonderful singers on this record for covering my songs."
Just as I thought, no one is trying to piss Iggy off!

Cool. "Was never given the opportunity..." sounds so unlikely as to be unbelievable.

Exactly Woody - that bit sounded very unlikely didn't it?
Thanks for the quote from RS, rokyforever. Iggy sounds genuinely pleased for the new project.
I still wish that he'd done just one song though...
Cheers, Richard

It sounds like there are still 5+ songs to record so you never know. It's up to Iggy if he wants to or not

Don't forget Wild Love's been slated for the project! Personally, I'm holding out for Fresh Rag.

Yeah, Wild Love featuring Mark Lanegan! So we have a bunch of songs left: Fresh Rag, Cock In My Pocket, YDWMN, Wet My Bed, Scene Of The Crime, Born In A Trailer, Rich Bitch, Pin Point Eyes.

Very glad to hear til the end of the night and wild love getting mention; of all the post RP songs i wouldn't imagine they would get a showing
hoping for some good sounding 1971 riffs
strange choice of mark lanegan for wild love, i'll reserve judgement for its release

Was anyone else lucky enough to pick up the 7in on Record Store Day? There was only 1 copy at my local store and I got it! Need to hear more of this project asap! Head On is one of my fav Stooge songs but I'm a bit nervous about what Jello will do with it. I am a DK fan but still...

Yes, I got one. Unfortunately my turntable broke down a few months ago, so I can't actually play it at the moment!

I got mine, my bassplayer and myself called all the record stores in the area and were able to find seven copies, so we were both able to get one before they sold out
