| Thanks for the link studioguy.
It's great to read Iggy's heartfelt words and I felt a lot of his sadness about Scott's passing. I didn't know that Scott had suffered a heart attack. Same as Ron.
Seems to me that the Stooges are over; it appears that Iggy felt that already but with Scott now gone it seems like the band has drawn to a close.
Sounds as if Iggy'll be back, but not for some time, and possibly not with James. I wonder if there's been problems and conflict within the latest formation of the band - Iggy talks of things getting 'overheated' and of needing to step back and cool off. And I didn't know about Iggy's hearing loss - that's bad news.
I hope he'll take this time to heal and recuperate and maybe next year we'll see something new from Iggy. In the meantime we have James' project which sounds like it'll be pretty cool.

| Actually it brought a bit of a lump to my throat too, Nadja. It really feels like the Stooges are over. And although I guess we all knew that this day would surely come, it doesn't make it any easier. And I feel for Scott's wife and daughter. Every report mentions how devoted he was to them. Sad times. | I think he also has back and hip/knee problems. He's beat the hell out of himself. He's barely ever taken a break from touring. A friend of mine was back stage in the '90's and he was already getting his back and knee iced after the show. I would also think the Stooges are done except for maybe a performance here or there. Even though 3 of the 4 originals are gone, there are more living actual vintage Stooges than you would think: Iggy, James, Steve Mackay, Jimmy Recca, Scott Thurston, Bob Sheff. - adams66 wrote:

| Hard words to read.
It must be very difficult for Iggy, two men who were obviously like brothers to him have passed. Leaving him the sole survivor of the original band, hence its collapse too.
A lot of emotion for him. And us to, this band has meant so much to all of us. We all realised the band would come to an end sooner than later and when i saw iggy talking about 2015 being the end it sounded like doomsday. But this is officially it.
Sounds like iggys physically very beat up too which isnt good to hear at all.
The main thing, despite what it means to us etc, is a father has died. That is the worst news. Hopefully the band allowed Scott the provisions to care for his family after his untimely death.

| Terrible for it to end like this, but it's significant and appropriate that Iggy seems to acknowledge that the Asheton Brothers were the essence of the Stooges. The heart and soul. | |

| Yeah, they shouldn't use the Stooges name anymore. Iggy & James can make some more music under their own name which it could be good. The band can be officially dead as their last album name predicted. Iggy will do the right thing anyway. R.I.P. Ron and Scott, the heart and soul of The Stooges and true rock & roll heroes. | |

| Feel very sorry for Kathy Asheton too, she's lost both her brothers.
The news of Scott's passing isn't quite as unexpected as in the case of Ron maybe, but no less a blow, of course. Also, I think lately there's been something of the sense that the band was kind of winding down to an end in any case.
Anyway, it's sure been one hell of a ride. | |

| RIP Scott Asheton. You left one hell of a legacy.
I also think the Stooges are now finished as a working unit, but there will be a few more releases before the final full stop. With regard to 'new' music we can expect James' album (which is, after all, Stooges songs) plus the soundtrack to the Jim Jarmusch film. There is also the possibility of an official release of the Raw Power outtakes which came out on a recent bootleg. There also may be more stuff in the can from the 'Ready To Die' sessions, but we don't yet know for sure. I think we can guarantee the odd live recording will see the light of day - either officially or on bootlegs - and I personally think it would be a nice idea if Scotty's last live appearance (Austin, 2012) could be released as a fitting tribute.
