I've been writing to the Easy Action label representatives, discussing with them about what concert recordings would be the most suitable for including on a possible continuation of the Where The Faces Shine series. They at least support such an idea (of such a sequel). Which recordings, in your opinion, would be the most suitable for this project?

Wasn't this intended as a four volume set?

I hope we at least get a Vol 3. the WTFS boxsets are excellent, vol 2 especially.

in regard to which gigs should be included i have no idea.

This would mostly concern the 90s 'comeback' era, right?

I think yes, beginning from Brick By Brick tour. My opinion is:

1. Brick By Brick tour: 24/10/1990, Cincinnati, Bogart's. 11 tracks from the album, including maybe the only live version of the Undefeated. This recording is on the Dimeadozen (two versions, check the longer one). The quality is good, and the only complaints are about cuts in I Wanna Be Your Dog and No Fun, and also Iggy stopping the band during Home because of the riotous audience.
2. American Caesar tour: 28/01/1994, Osaka, Club Quattro. 11 tracks from the album, the only time when Perforation Problems and Boogie Boy were performed at the same show. Does anybody know something about the recording of it (it exists)?
3. Naughty Little Doggie tour: 02/08/1996, Amsterdam. 5 tracks from the album. Good quality, I think, also on the Dimeadozen. Look Away from any of the North American shows could be added here as a bonus track, because To Belong and Look Away were never performed at the same show.
4. Avenue B tour: 01/11/1999, Boston, Avalon (with Miss Argentina) or 04/12/1999, Amsterdam, Paradiso (with the title track). I doubt which is better. I heard only the latter recording, of a decent quality.

good topic ! my first thoughts , without doing research...

1. Brick by Brick tour : for some gigs Down on the Street was played , for the 1991 summer fest. Gimme Danger was added....lots of those were probably taped for radio shows as always. the Paris gig at the Zénith ( feb.91 ) was phenomenal ( not the Olympia vid. ) , no idea if it's in the vaults.

2.American Caesar : fantastic band and tour with a great guitar player ( Eric Schermerhorn , pardon the spelling ) , by 1994 at least Johanna was added to the set list , sometimes Beside You was also played....I saw several shows with small cams onstage . same old story regarding summer fest. , Nyon 1994 was filmed to some extent for swiss TV , incredible with the power breakdown during Raw Power and all you can hear are Iggy and the drums in a crazy duet.

Love the idea of a dvd in the box like for vol.2

3.Naughty Little Doggie , oh God....who needs 2 guitar players to replace 1 who was great ?
a couple of promo gigs here and there were filmed and taped , including the infamous 1996 Fnac gig, broadcasted live in each branch of this record store...very very hectic gig , as good as it gets for such an album ? includes the 1969/Who do you Love medley...

after that I sort of lost touch with Ig until the glorious Stooges reunion

hope to see the next vol. soon with new gigs ( not what's been out on boots before )
cheers,

The night before Cincinnati, 11.23.90 Louisville KY, Vogue Theatre is a longer, more intense show.

Wasn't it in Columbus, Ohio? Because I heard that recording too (Newport Music Hall, 23 October 1990). It's good, but worse that Cincinnati. Some good moments 9 November 1990, New York, and in Indianapolis, 14 October 1990, but not in general.

Also, a Gothenburg 1994 recording exists (I'm searching for it, too), it doesn't have Perforation Problems, but it's good.

There are two versions of the recorded show, one of them is longer. If you mean that.

Earlier in this thread, an idea of adding a DVD had been said. Actually, the Detroit show 8/11/1986, which was released on WTFS, has a video: http://rockboots.awardspace.info/detaileddvd.php?id=161 Not so long ago a Baltimore-1990 recording was uploaded on Youtube, and an interesting gig in Warsaw (one trader said first 12 minutes in color, the rest is in black and white): http://rockboots.awardspace.info/detaileddvd.php?id=161 It would be great if someone uploaded the 1986 and 1993 videos. I also wrote to one person in Sweden who'd filmed the show in Gothenburg-1994, he said maybe in a few months he'll get a chance to digitize it on DVD.
