hi guys i was wondering on which cop can i find the cest version of this tune

As far as I know, the only place "Pinpoint Eyes" appears in full and at the correct speed is on the "Studio Rehearsals 73-74" bootleg LP. All other releases of this recording fade it out several minutes early and run way too fast.

I'm afraid the track on Heavy Liquid is faded and fast, just the same as on every other release except "Studio Rehearsals 73-74".

If you have access to the Bootlegs section of the forum, there's an upload of "Studio Rehearsals 73-74" from Thu Sep 15, 2011 that looks like it still works.

To give you an idea of the difference the track times at 9:34 on the bootleg, rather than 6:46.

I think the CD title "Main Man Rejects" is a serious misnomer. By the time these tracks were recorded Main Man had lost all interest in the Stooges, as Bowie's career had just caught fire and taken precedence. The so-called Main Man rejects were really earlier songs like "I Got A Right" and "I'm Sick Of You" that were recorded in 1972 and deemed too non-commercial for release. I once read a very cynical Bowie bio that espoused the theory that Bowie/Main Man signed the Stooges merely as a "capture and contain" strategy, designed to keep the Stooges inactive and thus not a threat. This theory is born out in their only being allowed to play a couple of gigs in 1972/early 1973. But it doesn't account for Bowie's subsequent help of Iggy's solo career.

Iggy has always bragged that the Stooges never did demos, but "Main Man Rejects" and other releases seem to prove otherwise.

I wish I knew how to download but I'm fairly old and not very technologically sophisticated. Thus the bootlegs section of this group is forbidden fruit to me. Fortunately I found a seller on ioffer selling Main Man Rejects at a reasonable price. I offer this information only to those like me, who have no other recourse.

I guess that "iguana negra" release must have been at least semi-official since the bootleggers seem to view it as off-limits and have left it alone, as far as I can tell. I can't find any cd/cd-r copies for sale.

Not really. These are rehearsals and try outs rather than actual intentional demo tracks. Taped in February 1973, the Stooges were still under contract with MainMan at the time, though it is clear that MainMan had pretty much lost interest in the Stooges by this point.

I'd have thought the point of a demo track was to play it to someone (producer, record label, someone like that) to demonstrate the potential of a song.
As far as I've been able to tell, these early 1973 rehearsals were not very professionally recorded, and weren't intended for anyone outside of the band to hear. They were merely reference recordings for the Stooges themselves.

Anyway, regardless of what we want to call them, it's brilliant that these tapes have found their way out into the world.

I still hope that one day the master tapes of these rehearsal sessions could be found and a proper, comprehensive, speed corrected collection could be released. One day...

I got my Main Man Rejects CD in the mail the other day and after years of hearing *about* the full length version of "Pin Point Eyes", I finally actually got to hear it. It did not disappoint. Nice little bluesy guitar solo from James. Not his greatest solo to be sure but not bad at all. It is a wonder that after all the Stooges compilations that have come out over the years that this song has never been officially released in its full length form. I thought that this version on Main Man Rejects might run slightly too slow, but it still clocks in at well over 9 minutes. Maybe if Easy Action ever does another Stooges release they will see fit to release it in its full length form.

Main Man Rejects is the first CD I've ever bought where the songs run inverse to the track listing. Interestingly the version of "Johanna" here, the short version, is without the slight glitch present on all other recordings of this song I have heard.

The 1973 *rehearsal* version of the Stooges is my all time favorite line-up of theirs. Ex-Prime Mover Bob Sheff plays the meanest piano I've ever heard and makes the band's music swing like never before. I could care less that he's gay and neither apparently could the rest of the band, especially when you've got this kind of synergy going on. A shame that this line-up couldn't last but fortunately these recordings exist to give testament to the magic that once existed.
