Silver Gloves

Here's a clip of the Cockettes, who Iggy used to hang with in San Francisco. At about 2mins 50 someone looking a little like Iggy is dancing around with silver gloves just like Iggy had - wonder if this is where he got the idea?

I doubt it. Didn't Iggy hang out with The Cockettes in 1973/1974? If so he had already worn them before. He wore them before Fun House came out.

Anyway I bought a pair of silver Iggy gloves the other day. You can get them in most party shops, they're called "silver evening gloves" they're not badly priced. Mine cost 7 pounds. I'm pretty short so mine went just above my elbows, Iggy-1970 style. I love them.

Yeah I searched in dance/opera shops to but I couldn't find a pair. Mine aren't great quality but they still beat mittens

I'm pretty sure Iggy met the Cockettes at around the time of the Fillmore gigs in 1970. It was supposedly his first exposure to opiate behaviour.

If anyone has shots of Iggy with silver gloves at any of the following gigs it would blow my theory out of the water (I know for sure he was wearing them at the Fillmore shows in May 1970):

if you mean the peanut butter gig then that was the Cincinnati Summer Pop Festival at Crosley Field in June 1970.

However looking at Craig Petty's pictures again it seems Iggy was wearing the silver gloves in March at least, a few months before he went to San Francisco.

Yeah, Iggy's always done weird stuff on stage so I'm pretty sure he didn't get the gloves thing from The Cokettes. But like HJW said like the Dolls he probably just saw them and liked them.

I read somewhere along time ago, that Iggy used to watch opera's (believe it or not) and he loved the look of them especially because they were shinny....

wonder if it is true, someone should get him to do a big long 'crazy rumours' intreview, though i suppose thats why iggy/stooges are so great, same as stones or dylan - all those crazy rumours that you want to believe in lol
