The King Cross Cinema Concert in 1972

I'm just curious. Which songs did they perform that night?
I know that they did "I Got A Right" and I think I read somewhere that they also did "Gimme Some Skin".

i remember reading, it was 'all new' stuff, for the time, as in like search and i need somebody and maybe like death trip, and probly hard to beat, and i think im sick of you or tight pants one of those 'london three', wonder if they would play scene of the crime nowadays, that would be cool, its a fantastic song, underrated in the cannon, though look at hthe cannon

tho the version on that reading festival 1988 thing someone posted awhile back is decent, pretty good actually, can just imagine ron playin that, he would kick the crap outta that; those i suppose he wouldnt - damn him; i both admire and hate the fact he wont do those raw power era songs - thank god iggy got him to do search and i gotta right, those are blisteringly played live, i feel privileged tohave heard those live

holy crap that has to be up there with the greatest of stooges gigs, not least because of all the photos and history, but that set, played by those guys at that time, it mustve been amazing

cant tell if this is a ajoke or not, if it is just disregard this, but its the berry gordy written Money (Thats What I Want), covered by well nearly everyone, but in particular beatles and stones

It would be amazing if a recording of the concert did exist but I don't think it's very likely, but you can always hope

im not surprised, he loves singing that, i really think he should do a stripped down rubinesque thing, but like jazz songs and stuff, that version of we have all the time in the world is cool; but i suppose he's stayin on track with stooges until it doesnt work - or they explode again! tho theres probly too much money this time around for that to happen

Sort of. I've peiced it together from reports of the show and stuff that was recorded by The Stooges around the time of the gig.

Yes that was during a technical fault. He broke his microphone and he sang "Shadow Of Your Smile" while it was getting fixed.

There's no film footage from the King's Cross Cinema gig, I'm pretty sure. Mick Rock photographed it. He did shoot footage at several Bowie gigs in 1972, but he has never mentioned filming anything at KCC. Considering the amount of pix he took there, it seems unlikely that he'd also film. I guess we'll have to do w. the shots. As for the set, I think it has been reported that it was very short, 30-40 mins, consiting of the tunes they were rehearsing at the time and "The Shadow Of Your Smile" as a brief interlude, as happened occasionally. Some reviews from UK papers describe the show quite extensively, more Iggy's antics and crowd interaction that the music, though. Kra'ls footage is 31 Dec '73 NY, not London '72. Per

"The songs the Stooges chose to perform that night had never been heard outside of the group's rehearsal studio - and they never would be again. Nothing was reprised from their previous two Elektra albums and nothing they played would be later immortalised on Raw Power. Instead, they performed a jolting succession of primitive works in progress. 'This next selection is entitled "Penetration" ', Iggy would inform the genuinely terrified crowd. But the song they performed had absolutely nothing in common with the hypnotic track of the same name that would appear eight months later on the Stooges' third album. 'Thank You,' Iggy then announced. 'This next selection is called "Penetration" too'. And off they'd go again bashing out this scary, Neanderthal jungle music that no one present had ever heard the likes of before that night."

I asked James and he remembers only two songs, „I Got A Right“ and „I’m Sick Of You“.
