| Ah, this reminds me of my own sad story... The first Stooges cd I ever listened to, I had checked out from the used book store where I used to work. It was a copy of Raw Power. I ripped it to my computer, but did not buy the cd, thinking I could easily get another copy if I saw fit. Later I saw another copy of Raw Power at a used book store and thought I may as well buy it. Listening to it on the way home, I realized it sounded different from what I was used to. It was the Iggy Remaster. A bit of research later, I found out that I had initially checked out and could have bought very inexpensively a Bowie mix cd (which, it turns out, is the mix I prefer of the two). | |

| I have the Columbia Bowie Mix cd and it's not as good, soundwise, as my old vinyl Bowie Mix. Can't quite put my finger on why though, but it sounds a little thinner and more trebly than the vinyl, which I haven't played for ages. Nevertheless I still prefer it to the Iggy nineties mix. Cheers, Richard | |

| I probably wore out 5 or 6 copies of the original Raw Power on vinyl, none the less I prefer Iggys version. The levels on the original are so inconsistant. You would be listening and it would just ''pop''. i was afraid I was going to blow my speakers. | |

| I found the Columbia CD on ePay for $10...thank god. I drove my car over the Iggy mix, it's such a piece of crap. | |

It's precisely because the levels are all over the place that I like the Bowie mix! The Iggy mix has no dynamics whatsoever, so that the quieter first verses of "Gimme Danger" are just as oppressively loud as the final section - on the original it was the contrast that made it so fascinating, that without warning James' guitar would come ripping in at a much higher volume. I know that due to the inexperienced production the subsequent mix was something of a salvage job, but the dynamics are there for a reason and didn't deserve the everything up to 11 approach used on the Iggy mix. That just flattens everything. If I want Raw Power loud, I just turn up my volume, and the quiet bits are still quieter than the loud bits. Cheers, Richard

| Am I the only one here that preffers the Iggy mix? The Bowie mix is great but the Iggy mix is so much more abbrasive.
I always found that I loved "Fun House" far more than the Bowie mix of "Raw Power" which I always thought was great but formulaic rock compared to the other two whereas now with the Iggy mix it brings it up a notch it just envelopes you in intense, beautiful noise and distortion which is why I love it.

| Yeah I bought this when it was released...can't believe anyone would pay £31 for a copy tho...I see them for sale pretty regular and I'm NOT looking for it...maybe the bidders got a tad carried away :-) | |

| The Iggy- mix is much better, in my opinion....I mean, 20 years ago when I got my raw-power-longplayer I just couldn't beliefe my ears, the music was so strong....but when the Iggy mix came out it really topped the Bowie mix. | |
