James/New Kill City Remix

Did anyone else notice James' post on his Facebook that he's soon going to be remixing Kill City with Ed Cherney, who he mentioned was the engineer on Brick by brick (among numerous other credits)?

I didn't see it, but this is fantastic news. A deluxe issue of Raw Power and now Kill City. New music/album possibly from James and the Stooges; quite of year.

WOULD BE GREAT TO INCLUDE THE ORIGINAL MIXES(WITHOUT SAX)TOO.

most guys would keep themselves busy washing the car and mowing the lawn!

hell it's never been a better time to be stooge fan, with all these releases. even if it is a yet another mix.
i'll be getting it.

How different is Kill City to the songs on the Penetration CD?
(obviously no lucky monkeys or master charge)
I've only got Penetration

I had thought these would be same but with the discussing of added sax I thought I'd ask.

If there is a difference - what does anyone think are the "best" versions available of these songs?

This is great news, thanks for posting. Can't wait to hear it at its best now.

Is a week and a half a decent enough time to mix an album? I dont know about music production / engineering

Fantastic! This is just great that's done already. Will it be on Bomp again or on Columbia like Raw Power?

The kill city version on million in prizes sounds terific. I hope It would be the same mix for the rest of this record.

There is a version of Kill City released on Revenge where "Night Theme" is one track...i hope its that wasy on the forthcoming cd (though splitting it worked on the vinyl i thought)

I've finally got the "Original Punks" 2CD.

The early mixes on here - some are mono, or mono-ish - sound good, but like they could still do with a little work here and there.

Anyway, as the mix is now done, and seemingly nothing I or we say here is likely to make much difference, I hope for the best! Remixed, and sounding good = good news...no extras? = hmm...I would've liked maybe some of the tracks from the LP/CD release, and maybe some sensitively cleaned up post Raw Power outtakes, but I guess we've had those "a few" times over by now.

Should be cool.

Well, we have enough good reasons to be cynical, don't we, but I'm hoping for the best.

I'm not trying to be a smart-arse, but why would you expect a remastered Bowie mix to be "radically different" from the Bowie mix as heard on vinyl?

I'm excited. James thinks the mix sounds great. Ed Cherney is an excellent engineer. And if I don't like it, I've got the original. Who needs it to be radically different?
