i just noticed this. i don't feel you owe me one, but if you insist i will definitely accept.

| Back in the 80's there was a very dense and informative music magazine called 'Forced Exposure'. One of the writers/editors was Byron Coley - also a legendary record collector. Coley alluded a few times to owning a very good Stooges bootleg that was recorded over a phone-line from a phone left off the hook in the lobby of the venue while the Stooges were playing. '71? 73/74? Anyone heard of this? | |

| I have that FE...i believe Coley was talking with one of the sun city girls about recording music over the phone..i always thought he was blowing smoke...i cant see how a payphone left off the hook in a lobby would allow for a good recording! | |

| Nope, sounds like a bit of a collectors story to me! However, Danny Fields did tell me that he used to record all of his phone calls with Iggy and all the Factory crew, so maybe if the Stooges were playing in some godforsaken shithole that he couldn't get down to in 71, he did this to hear how they sounded! Doubt very much the quality would be any good though. | |

| Upon finally hearing the 71 show, its obviously not a phone recording, and the recording quality is rather atrocious.Still one cannot deny the actual performance sounds on fire! | |

Interesting question. Cuz actually the bends sound Ron's..I know he is also playing the lead (or at least at the begininng) in 'Who Do You Love?'. I think leads in the rest of the songs are done by James.

| I agree with JamesWilliamson82.
And most of the lead work is def. James, I heard Ron on a track or maybe 2.

That must be when Iggy shouts "Fuck" and you hear all the microphone feedback. Thanks Pernil.

| I was just listening to it yesterday and I thought, could it be? They must have came back for an encore without Ron unless my tracklisting is a bit messed up. | |

| rumour says they came back for 1 more song (which is correct) but, people say the song was without Ron.... but when I just listened to it, I'm SURE I hear a second guitar while James is doing the solo's on that last song.... listen closely.... | |

| I think I hear the second guitar to JLTS.
Is it just me or does the last song ("That's What I Like") sound like it could be an early version of "Gimme Some Skin"?

Doesn't sound to me. Seems more like a improvised tune a' la Bo Diddley's style

| No one's mentioned the similarity between the verse to 'Fresh Rag' and 'Consolation Prizes'. You can almost sing the lyrics to the latter over the riffs to the former.
Sound quality aside, I am digging this over the later period, lower-energy boots (Bimbos, Metallic KO etc). I'd rank it right up there with the 8/6/73 Max's shows. Crank it up real loud and listen from the next room.

not in the slightest. there are rules here of course, and quality posts go more of a long way then ten spam posts of: "hi. i am new here and i love iggy pop and/or the stooges." "does any one have photos of (insert subject)?" "in the stooges rider who eats all the pizza they would order?" i'm just trying to help you out, you know? and for the record i do not see any thing wrong with people asking for photos. when it's used as a crutch to gain access to the bootleg section, then i have a problem with it.
