| many thanks for mentioning this dynamite boogie, there's nothing essentially new in this article, and it takes the rather hackneyed line that the Stooges were fairly untalented but groundbreaking anyway, but it focuses entirely on the earliest days and the making of the first album which from my point of view is just great. And a hilarious glimpse of life inside the bandhouse and all. Also a CD with this issue which has a few surprisingly good rock tunes (supposedly 'lost' ones) incl. an early Blue Cheer track, with Stephens' maniacal, magical guitar

| Nice to see a big Stooges article in Classic Rock but how did they miss the debut album in their rundown of the most significant album releases of 1969? | |

| re-read it, don't like the way it puts down Dave's musical ability in particular all that reference to his parents buying him an 'expensive' bass but that it didn't matter what type of instrument he had cuz he was bound to forget how to play at all when he got too high. well of course that happened at Goose lake by all accounts but it sure as hell didn't always happen!! and he sure kept it together for the making of the two greatest albums ever. And that reference to his 'blasts of bass rage'??? That, to me, is not what his playing was all about. would've been nice if they could have labelled that band photo properly too, instead of getting him and Scott mixed up. | |
