James Williamson - Returns to Live Music....

Go James! Anybody going?

Hey all-

This is Derek from Careless Hearts here. Just want to put everyone's mind at ease that has expressed concern that a "country rock" band is backing James (not my term- we much prefer 'roots rock"). The music of the Stooges is our roots and the Raw Power rages through our blood as a band. we are going to play these songs as close to the real things as possible.

I can't express enough how happy, excited and honored we are to be a part of James' first gig in 35 years!

so is this careless hearts backing james? playing raw power? i thought it was james sitting in with them?

either way, it'll be good to hear and see james back on the stage

The setlist will be very Raw Power heavy but will draw on some more surprises :-)

WELCOME dereksee. This is awesome. Sounds like you'll be playing all tracks on Raw Power with James? Did James come to you or did you go to James? Will this be simulcast on the interwerbz? Recorded? As I'm a broke dick and can't afford to fly to San Jose. I thought James would play a reunion with Iggy and the Stooges first, but I ain't picky. There's never a dull minute with James. Thanks for coming here.

Here's how it came about; ever since the Fretboard Journal article I wrote about James, him and I have been talking quite a bit and have become good pals (along with the rest of the guys in my band. our bass player, Brian, is the luthier who restored the Raw Power Les Paul). When James told me he was gonna do the tour, I offered up our band for him to ease back into playing with a group again. Long story short, he said as a thank you he would play out with us so YOU BET we jumped on that opportunity.

Derek. Can you please try to get one of your friends to film this extravaganza for the world to see? Maybe Cathy could put it up on James' Facebook page for all us poor slobs that can't get to the show. If you can't film it, maybe somebody in the audience can get 18 minutes of it and put Parts 1 and 2 on Youtube. James said he reconed there would be 12 - 19 RP era songs that may be played!!! But he said it's too early to tell. I'll eat my heart out if I can't see or hear any of this.

James also said on FB that the Stooge thing isn't going to happen TILL NEXT YEAR. I thought it would materialize this Fall.

As long as James OK's it, we will try to get some video of this historic event.

i would love to see this or hear it, and 12 to 19 RP songs? thats amazing, way to go james, i thought he'd stick to just songs from the album

iggys always stated in things, he wouldnt be doing anything live, usually in reference to preliminaires, until next year, i had a feeling it would be next year - did he mean rehearsals are pushed back to next year or just that they wouldnt get out on the road til next year?

i'm still not sure this will take off, i'd love it too, for iggy and scott and the band in general, but i can't see it having the same momentum the 2003 stooges reunion had

Big things are going to happen that I can't talk about yet...
Stooges rehearsals are still planned for next month.

And this is James' first gig in 35 years isn't it?
I wonder how many other musicians have come back to live performance after a gap of that long?
