| Yeah, I'm pretty bummed. I was afraid that might happen, but I thought my boss might be able to cut me loose for a couple of days. Unfortunately we're running on a skeleton crew right now. I repeat- SHIT. | |

| Well, I'm pretty sure I'll be there. Honestly, I'm not so sure about this. These kind of "jams" can go a whole lot of ways and not all of them are good. I'm hopeful but a bit wary. | |

| I really wish I could be at the "Jam For Ron" today. I hope it goes well for all that attend and all those who perform. It is truly sad that Ron didn't make it long enough to see his band inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame, but for all of us Stooges fans that didn't matter because we all already knew that Ron was a bona-fide Rock Star. | |

| So, the jam was last night. The high points were meeting fellow Stooge Board members Natalie and Radish.
The music was, well, shambolic seems like a nice word to use. The most interesting aspect was that the official guitarist for the evening was Scott Thurston. He played a few songs along with Scott Asheton, Steve Mackay and Mike Watt. An endless array of people came and went on various instruments, most of them without being named. In fact, that was really frustrating - so many people came and went with no indication who they were or why they were there. Some were recognizable - the drummer from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Don Bolles and maybe a couple of others I'm not remembering. Mostly it was just people taking up space on the stage and playing sloppy versions of Stooges songs.
The opening acts ran the gamut from awful to decent and seemed to have little or no connection to anything that was going on or to anything related to Ron Asheton.
Overall it was pretty much what I would expect from a jam session. And as a good friend of mine said when I told him that this show was coming up - "nothing says Ron Asheton like a jam session."
I'm glad I went in Ron's honor. It was one year to the day from his funeral (Tuesday January 13, 2009) and seemed a good way to spend the time - whatever might occur onstage. And, as I said, I got to finally meet Natalie Schlossman and Radish (I won't reveal her name as that would be ungentlemanly to presume that she would want that).
Overall, I'd say you didn't miss much if you weren't there. Let's see what the others have to say. | |

| I know a few pix are going to go up on a blog soon, and will link same when applicable. The evening's weirdest moments came when, while jamming with Awesome Color's Derek Stanton, singer Michael CircusBoy pissed off the band (including Steve MacKay, Chilli Pepper Chad Smith, Scott Thurston) by trashing the band's own equipment instead of directing his onstage chaos towards a more Ig-worthy adversary, the actual audience. No bottles or cameras were thrown. | |

| Oh, and the last performer was from the Stooges tribute band, The Raw Power Rangers. What a thrill for its singer to be backed by actual Rock Action. | |
