| I don't know if it already exists, but a Stooges Song Guide would be very helpful not to be confused about song mislabels, alternate/working titles, availability on bootlegs, etc.
What do you think about that?

| Yep, I think it is a great idea. If someone or a few of you are willing to help eachother make one I will gladly make it a sticky topic once it has been typed up. | |

| If you type "Stooges discography" into Wikipedia you get a pretty complete list of songs and their working titles. Not their availability on bootlegs etc though.
EDIT: My mistake it's been deleted, I made a pretty complete list of commonly confused songs and alternate titles but its gone.

What do you think about that? I've made a Iggy Pop Song Guide from 1962 to 2010 (The Iguanas, The Prime Movers, The Stooges, Iggy and The Stooges, Iggy Pop solo) - DEMOS, UNRELEASED, SOUNDTRACKS, COVERS, CONTRIBUTIONS, SONGS RELEASED ON THE OFFICIAL STUDIO ALBUMS 1969-2009... You can see it on my page: http://free-zg.t-com.hr/JesusLovesTheStooges/SONGS.htm#Since I have audio or video recording of all these songs, this list should be correct.

If you go to "History" on the top right corner of any wiki page (in this case the one you're talking about) and then click what date you edited the page on, it'll show you how the page would have appeared on the date (i.e. with your list) I hope this helps and/or works.

Also, if I had access to all those unreleased songs in some way or form and if they were in circulation, or properly released on later expanded rereleases with fabulous quality..... then I would die happily.

Do you think any of those early songs were actually recorded? It would be amazing if they were on tape somewhere, and if they would ever be actually released by whoever has them. I can't believe there wouldn't be a huge market for them, now especially. To hear something from 67 or 68 would be incredibly amazing.

I would like that a lot if they released that material.

The version on the Heavy Liquid boxset sounds to me like it's a rough run through of the Otis Redding song. Can't really hear 'Pretty Face' in there. Is there another version floating about?

| I've been reading this Iggy Pop biography "Open up and bleed" by Paul Trynka. Very interesting reading. I found out some information about the early songs.
"The Razor's Edge" was a 45 minute instrumental epic played by Scott on drums. Just in the beginning of Psychadelic Stooges when they still was experimenting with different line-ups.
When they played at Unicersity of Michigan in Dearborn, a couple got up to leave and were confronted by Iggy. And Iggy started to haranguing them, getting right in their face - wich resolved into the song called "Goodbye Bozos".
Quote from the book Open up and bleed: "Elektra founder Jac Holzman and Vice President Bill Harvey saw both bands for themselves the following weekend at the Fifth Dimension, a hip club built in what had been a bowling alley. According to Jim, in the intervening week he'd become so nervous about the audition that he was bedridden with asthma, hence the Stooges wrote two songs ´specially for that show´: ´I'm Sick´ and ´Asthma Attack´."
Another quote: "Over the spring of 1969, the Stooges worked on developing enough songs for their ablum. John Cale had agreed to produce the band on the basis that they ´make the record and forget about what's on stage´. For that reason apart from tantalising clues, no true recording remains of early Stooges performances, and those early freeform ´songs´, including ´I'm Sick´, ´Asthma Attack´, ´Goodbye Bozos´ and ´The Dance of Romance´, were abandoned or reworked.
As we know ´The Dance of romance´ would get lyrics and a romantic opening and become the song "Ann".
"Down on the beach/On the beach" was first a love song to Iggys girlfriend Wendy, but was reworked after Wendys departure into "Down on the street".

| I really would like to have a complete Stooges discography compiled. I have bought the same stuff several times over because there just wasn't any really good info out there. Here is a really good template: http://www.jazzdisco.org/charlie-parker/discography/It's pretty straight forward and provides pretty much all the pertinent info, we just need to replace the Bird discography info with Stooges discography info. | |
