| Apologies if this has been linked before. It's a blog with an entry about the locations of the London Raw Power studios and various haunts. I had no idea Iggy bought his jacket from the same World's End shop that later became McLarens's Sex/Seditionaries. Very cool to see the inside of the studios too, if all that is correct. Again, apologies if it's been linked on here before - it's from 2008 so ... maybe. http://londonsmusiclandmarks.blogspot.com/2008/12/iggy-and-stooges.html'In March of 1972 the fragmented remains of the imploded band The Stooges arrived in London. Singer Iggy Pop and guitarist James Williamson had been brought over from the US by David Bowie's management company, Mainman, the intention being to create a new group around the Pop/Williamson nucleus.
The pair were first put up in the rather select Royal Garden hotel in Kensington, overlooking Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Today it's a 5 star, with a single room costing around £170 a night. Back in '72 it was also a top of the range place to stay, attracting assorted film stars and major league Rock stars - The Who's Keith Moon lived there for a period during 1975...'and so on. | |
