I was going from what I read on

http://www.iggyandthestoogesmusic.com/us/news/raw-power-live-hands-fans-be-released-180-gram-vinyl

I thought it odd that it wasn't mentioned on the RSD site as a release.
Maybe they were just 'piggy-backing' on the RSD hype.

Quote:-
Iggy and the band sound flawless as they rip through the archetype riffage of "Search and Destroy," "Raw Power," "Gimmie Danger" and more. This record is being rush released for Record Store Day 2011.

it was definitely not an rsd exclusive release. i have a feeling they may have not made it in time for rsd day--april 16--because i participated this year and did not see this one out there. all rsd releases at the store i went to--exclusive or not--were displayed behind glass and limit one album title per customer. i also believe if it were to be out for rsd--exclusive or not--it would have been listed on the rsd webpage.

My local store got it a couple days before Record Store Day and I picked it up on Friday, the day before. I had assumed it was a RSD release and at least a few retailers had certainly implied that by listing it with all the actual RSD releases. Most importantly, I think it sounds awesome but certainly agree that the fades are frustrating.

Finally arrived from interpunk.com today. Even came with a raw power live badge n cheap cloth patch.

The production on this is great. Watt's bass sounds big n beautiful.
I'm sure the tracks coulda been faded into each other better too.
But my main annoyance with this is the sleeve design.
As a designer myself I can't understand the idea of the HUGE TEXT.
From the front cover to the back - its ugly. Its like someone designed it as a cd n just scaled it all up. Jeez! The photos are great tho. No complaints there.

Can anyone explain to me why it sounds like 2 guitars on Gimmie Danger?
I can hear a clean/acoustic and also a distorted electric.
Overdubs? Or is this possible live with a loop effects pedal?

I'd like to hear what you guys think

Yeah, the lettering is kind of HUGE ;-)

The acoustic guitar could be an overdub, but also an effect/loop thing. Does anyone know? I did not hear an acoustic guitar at the shows earlier in 2010.

And when will the DVD/BR be released?

Yeah - whats the hold up releasing this?

Think I may have worked out how JW has that 2 guitar sound - tho i'm sure there are others on the forum more knowledgeable than I about amps n such.

Watt's Diary mentioned JW having a guitar with a piezo bridge pickup for acoustic sound.
So I think its a case of 1 guitar playing both sounds at the same time.
With 2 line outs: 1 to acoustic/clean amp, the other to his regular electric amp via footpedals and all that stuff.

I'm sure Derek could confirm n describe more accurately.

Listening to it again, I think, jpod, you're right!
