| It's the Old Waldorf gig. An interesting and good boot to include. Might have bought the box-set if it had complete concerts instead of random songs. | |

| Most of the tracks are on Easy Action's Hitchhiking in California. The only difference seems to be that the first 2 tracks on HiC are from 29/11 whereas the same tracks on this release are apparently from the 27/11 gig. This is also missing China Girl and 5'1" from 29/11 that are on HiC. http://easyaction.co.uk/detail/CSSPCD004Has anybody bought this and can confirm that the first 2 tracks are actually different? | |

I think the bonus disc is only available mail order.

| Your right Donald. Forgot Hitchhicking included most of the Waldorf gig. Kind of took the edge of the bonus disc really.. I have Hitchhicking, but have removed the flac I had of Waldorf. I'll compare it when I find a rip(thought it might be one at the bootleg section). | |

| I think this set should be considered at least more seriously than some of the live releases, as Iggy selected the tracks himself.
Part of me feels that's a shame then as I've seen some of the performances are mis-labelled, and even with this set, better sound quality versions of the early '77 tour encores have *still* been overlooked for official release.
However, I hope to be able to afford the set, and I will investigate it accordingly.

| Stranger 09, where did you hear Iggy selected the tracks himself ? anyway it is a very very mixed bag ! sounds like a comp. for the casual listener who doesn't know and have much material " to find out " , price is very attractive too for 4 cd, still no completist will find this set very satisfying , to hear the intro of san diego 78 switch painfully to a different gig to then come back to san diego , why why why ?
put out full concerts when you have the tape ! starting with the Bol D'or gig , which was pretty much Coachella for europe in terms of expectations ... and delivery ! and that's just 1 example.
maybe Easy action will pick up the work where shout left it !

fabrice I get told off for saying such things but I wouldn't automatically assume EA would have done it better? The audio quality on their releases has improved in standard in recent times though. This is where I read that Iggy selected the tracks. I don't like Rolling Stone much (they always seem to be in love with the sort of American music - and I do like a lot, but more towards Iggy's end of the spectrum - that I despise), but they do seem a pretty authorative magazine? http://www.rollingstone.com/music/albumreviews/roadkill-rising-the-bootleg-collection-1977-2009-20110517I just tried ordering online as I'm finally a bit better off. The Shout site won't let me order it from the UK (they have the bonus disk) - they won't ship / sell it to the UK. Not sure I'm missing so much as I could probably pick up the four CD version at a good price some point and the Waldorf disk can't be that much different from California Hitchhike, and if it is it might be like one of the 3 bootleg CDs that were put together as a bootleg from those shows, which I could track down some point (I think I know someone who has it).

| Stranger 09, be sure that was only a question , there's enough bashing on the net ! I suppose RS can always say Ig selected the tracks...anyway special hands up for the editor, you're gonna love the cds when you get them , especially the stooges tracks , right after dirt iggy calls for not right and next is no fun or something like that , also rip it up is said to be from reading fest, fantastic job ! all I'm saying is I'll always prefer a full show to such mish mash,
take care ! | |
