It's just Siouxsie and the Stooges, Jacqui. We managed to get the 2318 home on Monday so you should be OK tomorrow.

The show is up on Dime, very decent sound:
Iggy & The Stooges Royal Festival Hall London 20th June 2013
This Is My Recording Front Stalls Lineage: Olympus LS10 Recorder >16 bit >Adobe Audition>Traders Little Helper Flac Level 8 Taper __rimbaud__
James Williamson catches me on the hop tonight as the lights go down the band are on and he launches "Raw Power" before you can say"what the fuck" So, 20 seconds or so are missed, i'm sure you can live with it. The band are on typically shit hot form tonight, i doubt the festival hall has rocked so much since, well, the last time they played here. Iggy, for the first time i can remember though, showed a couple of signs that he's mortal after all, only 2 stage dives, albeit 1 backwards, and a couple of references in words and song, that he and they won't be around much longer , cherish them while they still are.....
01.Raw Power (missed first 20 seconds) 02.Gimme Danger 03.Gun 04.1970 05.I Got A Right 06.Search and Destroy 07.Funhouse 08.Night Theme 09.Beyond The Law 10.Johanna 11.Ready To Die 12.I Wanna Be Your Dog 13.No Fun 14.Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 15.Penetration 16.Sex and Money 17.Open Up and Bleed 18.The Departed 19.Louie Louie 20.Cock In My Pocket
Iggy Pop - Vocals James Williamson - guitar Mike Watt - Bass Steve Mackay - Sax Toby Dammit - Drums

Thought they were really tight, way to much sax though, i thought it drowned out everything else at times it was on pretty much on everything, didn't think it was needed on the Raw Power songs. Open up & Bleed was shit hot. Iggy not as sprightly (signs of age), still far better frontman than anyone else.ut i did really enjoy it. Loved the jacket at the end nice touch.  Nigel.

Excellent gig. Surprised to hear so many new songs, they worked well though. Very pleased they did The Departed. Loved the jacket, I wonder where he got it? Didn't notice the sax so much from where I was standing but James was on fire. Really lucky to get right down the front. We were in row J but he was on when we got back from the bar so we just walked straight into it. Didn't miss much. It's so much better seeing them indoors with a Stooges crowd.

Excellent gig. The band have gotten so much tighter since I last saw them with Suicide in 2010 at Hammersmith. Really excellent to hear them, most surprised by Iggy, from where I was standing he did look his age, more than I've noticed before (similar to watching the stones at glastonbury on TV) but his voice is as good as i've heard in the past ten years.
I hope all the talk of dying is just to tie it in with the new album but they all seemed to enjoy playing as we did watching. The new songs tie in perfectly as if everything they played was written last year - iggy even stating after sex and money 'thats from the new album, maybe in 40 years someone will like it!'
I actually met the guys afterwards, i think iggy had snuck off somewhere earlier, but i met james, mike and steve. I have to say, i know you're not supposed to meet your heroes, but they are absolute gentlemen, they took the time out to talk to the few people who had collected (first time i've waited outside for a band, waited about an hour and half to my brothers chagrin, but it was worth it).
Mike in particular seemed genuinely moved by what I had to say; which i just assumed was the usual echo of a fan - he even recognised my accent, i'm from the north of ireland and he pinpointed it which really surprised me as its a hard accent to place for people not from here - and even some people in ireland, but he just seemed like a wonderful person. At one point he just said 'i have to give you something' i guessed in return for the praises, i replied 'you already did'; he rummaged in his pocket and found a hootpage sticker, which was such a kind gesture - it just goes to show how down to earth these guys are.
James was warm and a delight to talk to, seemed like a great person, he spoke about playing the guitar and the videos he has put up recently showing people how to play search etc - though after watching him again, there is only one person who can play that song the right way.
Talked to steve as well for a brief few minutes, again seemed genuinely appreciative of what i had to say which shocked me, as if they didnt know how good they were.
Great gig, probably up there for me with the time I saw the Stooges for the first time, with Ron in 2006.
I have just finished a masters course at university and went through a lot of shit with the staff towards the end and i just felt like watching these guys again I remembered who I was and was shaking off ten coats of dust, so personally it was one of my favourite gigs. During it I just kept thinking in my head 'this the best music ever written, played by the greatest band' - i've always referred to the stooges as different to other bands for me, to me they aren't just my favourite band they are like a limb, but i think after seeing this performance they're more like an organ. I kind of love and hate that i attach so much importance to music and in particular this band but i cant help it.
made this cover for the bootleg thats floating around, sound quality is pretty good, wish the USB thing they did in 2010 was at every gig
not my ticket, found it online incase someone wanted to see what they looked like

That's a great report homesick james. Beautifully written, that last bit especially really captures the magic of the band and how much this music means to you - something which I suspect is familiar to most of us here. And what a privilege to meet the band too - I'm always struck by how humble and down to earth Mike Watt is when I read his wonderful tour diaries. Nice to hear that he's just the same in person too. And what a cool pic of you and your namesake! Cheers, Richard

Maybe not the right topic, but I was triggered by the remark of adams66; I find it a bit embarrassing that Mike after 10 years in the Stooges still isn't on the official pictures of the band.

Good point Lucas. In terms of years Mike has actually been a Stooge for longer than James! I know he wasn't there back in the 60s and 70s but he's been a crucial ingredient since the reformation so I agree that he ought to get more credit. Cheers, Richard

As a wonderful addendum to the stooges gig, I recently saw Sylvain Sylvain play and was able to meet him in person
Been a great year for meeting the people I've been listening to for years and finding out they are some of the nicest people i could ever hope to meet. Sylvain struck me the same as Mike Watt, just a very genuine and caring individual - i could sit at a bar and listen to both of them and never be bored.
Great gig as well, a bit cabaret at points, and i know johansen and sylvain aren't talking or are butting heads, but a dolls gig - even without murcia, nolan, kane and thunders - needs johansen and a band behind it. Saying that though i thought it was excellent, i was worried when all i saw come out was a bass, drums and guitar but it was actually refreshing, the songs are simple and powerful and seem to work whatever the situation, sylvain played some of his own stuff with which i have become acquainted recently.
Impressed with Sylvain's playing and the sound he is able to make - also noticed, and maybe its just a personal resonance but i noticed maybe the reason i was drawn to dolls and stooges - what Ron did with guitar in terms of utilising feedback and laying down a sound to play over or manipulate, i noticed Sylvain doing, obviously because he only had one guitar going in a classically two guitar sound but thunders even did the same, huge chords that syl would run under or thunders would through himself. Similar i guess to the guitar weaving that keith richards / ron wood have going, although a different version. Theres something about big sound utilising feedback, havent properly thought it all out but its just something i picked up on.
Also attended a stones gig in between stooges and sylvain but i dont think i had much chance of meeting them.
Hope the next chance meeting is Alan Vega, or even Iggy someday, but maybe its best that doesnt happen. Dont want to ruin the illusion.
