| To be fair, Iggy also said that McKay wasn't a real Stooge. And this was during the recording of Funhouse! (It's written on the bottom of one of the photos of McKay taken for the cover).
During some of his 80's interviews Iggy also claimed that he wrote basically every riff on the first two Stooges albums and that he was the only good thing to come out of the Michigan scene. (The latter is from a particularly brutal interview that only Canadians can view on the New Music web site).
It's all just blather and I wouldn't put too much stock in a lot of Iggy's offhand comments over the years.

| It'd be good to have Scott Thurston back, if possible. | |

| Fuck no! Quoting Iggy from an interview in french rock magazine Rock'N'Folk (april 2004): "Scott Thurston have NEVER been and will NEVER be a Stooge! What is doing nowadays? He's working with Tom Petty... AH AH AH!"I'll post some scans from the interview (which is in French) as soon as possible | |

No shame in a professional musician working with the likes of Tom Petty, but more on point: it would appear from the James Williamson quotes in the recently published Metro Times article that he and Scott Thurston are friendly these days, but if Iggy is not on amicable terms with S.T then it would appear that his chances of joining the fold are slim to none.

| YES!
Scott Thurston should be in the line-up if at all possible. Many of the songs from the Raw Power period were written with keyboards, so it makes sense to have a keyboard player if those songs are to be played live again. If not Thurston, then who?

| There are not any plans now for Thurston to join the band but he and James are very good friends -- played golf during the second Stooges practice, and he attended the Watt show that week, where the Raw Power tribute band played. He HAS a good job cb http://iggypop.orghttp://straightjameswilliamson.com | |

I'm not judging Scott Thurston, just quoting Iggy Is there any piano note on the "Raw Power" LP??? I'm quite sure the Raw Power track got some piano, but in this case, the piano player is uncredited...

| I just seems to me that with Ron's death the remaining "Stooges" would maybe want to do something special to celebrate his life and that would be to invite back everyone who contributed to the music over the years for a full blown tour. Not just hitting the festival circuit and a couple of venues. I mean shit this could be the last opportunity to get all of these guys back together for a serious Stooges celebration tour and maybe record a live CD. They should put aside all squabbles and pettiness (if there is any that still remains). They aren't getting any younger and this might be the last time around for some of these guys. | |
