Stooges film - Gimme Danger

It showed at a few festivals, at least, so I would've guessed that someone in this distinguished crew would have gotten a look.

I think I read on imdb.com that it is being released widely in February. Ugh! Hell, I'm still waiting to see "Danny Says." Did that ever come out anywhere?

Just saw that it is playing at the Austin Film Festival October 13-20 (no set date yet.) Festival badge is $65, so I might just wait until February wide release. Steve

Granted, nobody wants to blow $65 on a one trick pony, but what if we crowd funded you the $65 dollars + money for transportation  + money for refreshments/foodstuffs/alcohol? With nearly 1500 members I think we can see to it that you attend the festival  in style. You can be our roving reporter, our man on the street. I think the only requirement we'd impose is that you attend the Stooges screening completely sober. Whaddaya say?

Wow, you guys are cool! Let me see what date exactly that they show it (I don't think they have announced it yet) because there are a couple of days within that range of Oct 13-20 that I couldn't make it. However, if Iggy or Jarmusch is gonna show up for it, that would be a different story. I think I know someone who has attended this festival in the past. Let me get with her and ask her if they ever sell tickets to a single showing, rather than a pass for the whole thing. Thanks again!!!! Steve

I'm especially looking forward to Watt's reminiscence. He seems to be the one who carries the flame for the Asheton brothers, and he has a take on the Iggy phenomenon from a unique insider/outsider perspective. His reflections on Iggy always seem inspired and eloquent.

My personal preference is that the doc end in 1974, but for better or for worse the Stooges reunited, and what the hell are you supposed to do, completely ignore it?? But I think we can all agree, whether you liked them or not, that the recent Stooges albums The Weirdness and Ready To Die didn't come close to previous standards. When Black Sabbath reunited and recorded "13" it at least sounded like Black Sabbath. But to me the new Stooges albums sounded like just a mere continuation of Iggy's solo career. My opinion.

But do I blame them for reuniting and maybe tarnishing the legacy? No, not at all. If you're Iggy with a fading solo career do you turn down your trump card - a Stooges reunion? If you're an Asheton brother, do you turn down a million bucks worth in festival gig money? Only if you're an idiot. So while their recent albums weren't up to snuff, the Stooges were still at least a killer live band who attracted a lot of new fans.

Watt is cool, met him after the last Stooges gig in san jose. I wanna go!

Not to be impatient, but I hope this gets released very soon on DVD. I'd hate it go the route of the (excellent) "MC5: A True Testimonial" documentary that was widely bootleged and has yet to see an official release. I've seen it, so have many of my friends, and I doubt the filmmakers made a penny.

In short, take my money already!

I finally saw it last night in Helsinki. Pretty much what you'd expect, some rare-ish footage mixed with interviews focusing on Iggy. There's not a lot of new stuff for the die hards, mainly never before seen photos and better quality video. The story follows the bands years from 67 to 73 and in the end briefly talks about the reunion/reformation.

All in all it was super interesting for a fan and so-so for those who only came to see a random music doc.

If you guys have any questions about the film (footage/interviews etc.) im all ears.

Does anyone know if any of the demos that the Asheton brothers recorded in 2008 were used in the film?
