| The second day of recording was better than the first one, the guests were more interesting, Iggy played more songs alone. | |

| Got a last minute chance to be at that second recording March 25th:
About 300 people were in the studio in Paris. the set was dressed up with photo's and films projected of '60 jazzy and rock and roll music scenes on panels at the back of the stage. The audience sat packed on a stair bench behind the cameras. in front of the camera's > about 30 'vips' dressed up in '60 cloths sitting close to the stage.. like in a jazzy nightclub. Nina was sitting there too, at the side. With Later on during the show Iggy came up to her and asked something i couldn't understand.. she laughed shy.
The show began with Iggy coming up slowly from behind a screen.. singing this very sad song in French > 'Les Fueilles Mortes'. Nice song. Nice voice. Weird setting though. I'm used at the high energy coming up with the Stooges. Iggy seemed to me a bit uncomfortable in this slow music nightclub show set up. He looked calm.. seemed also a bit shy.. especially together with the hot temperate guests he was singing with. The music sounded nice and easy, familiar to the croons he made before. good songs. Iggy wore a black trouser and a black leather jacket with nothing underneath it. When he took the jacket of.. fans started to yell.. on stage he seemed much more comfortable bare chested.
I didn't know any of the musicians or special guests that came to sing a duet with Iggy. Except for Peaches of course. they sang The Reeferman together. The singing was GREAT.. in her blue Charleston dress and punkrock hairdo + make up... she got stuck with the fringes of her dress to Iggy his jacket button....hahahaha. When the presenter of the show sang a song with Iggy.. her top was falling underneath her nipples... funny too.
The concert took about an hour. At the end Iggy decided to sing another song with the last guest (don't know her name) she was not informed cuz was leaving the stage already. Iggy called her back to sing 'Gloria'.. a spontaneous action .. loosened up the whole .. sounded really good! The woman looked a bit like Janis Joplin.. almost the same voice. Despite the long clapping and some yelling at the end of the show iggy didn't come back..
Maybe Marines can give us the names of the guests who sang with Iggy in this second show? it was all in French.. i didn't understand much.

I was so focused on that show that i didn't count.. and i don't know the album + the songs ofcourse.. so i couldn't separate the golden oldie duets with the new songs. It's not really my genre.. you know. But i guess it were about 3 or 4 songs from that album. we couldn't take mobiles or bags and stuff with us into the studio.. to make pictures or notes i.e.

That's cool. Just thought I'd ask. Had I been there myself, it probably would have taken me a month for my memory to reboot itself properly

| Iggy performed 8 songs of “Preliminaires”, my favourites were: Spanish Coast, To the Beach, How Insensitive, King of Dog and Nice to be dead. The first day of recording took around 2 hours, we had 2 good surprises Grace Jones came to sing Nightclubbing with Iggy, and Iggy offered us The Passenger. During the second day the duets were better than those of the first day, except the one with Grace Jones which was good. I tried to list the songs: March 24 1- Spanish Coast – Duet with Stephan Eicher. 2- Je sais que tu sais - Michel Houellebecq seemed to be lost and impressed on the stage. 3- Ne me quitte pas – Duet with AYO. 4- Machine for Loving – Iggy is sitting at the bar, reading Houellebecq's text over music. 5- Minnie the Moocher - Duet with China Moses 6- Rum and cola – Duet with Arielle Dombasle (no comment) 7- Nightclubbing – Duet with Grace Jones is a last minute addition to the program. The played the song 3 time. One rehearsal version, 2 takes after. They also made us laughing because during the technicians were getting things ready, they were staying behind a white curtain and they did as if they were fucking each others, so we could see their shadows on the curtain. All the audience and technicians felt about laughing. 8- The Passenger - Iggy went to sing in the audience. It was the best time of the recording 9- Shout of Joy – Fabrice Eurly playing piano. March 25 1- Les feuilles mortes - Iggy was solo. 2- To the Beach - Duet with Keren Ann 3- Kings of the dogs – Iggy solo 4- You're the boss - Duet with Emma De Caunes 5- I put a spell on You - Duet with Catherine Ringer from Rita Mitsuko 6- How Insensitive – Duet with Benjamin Biolay 7- Reeferman – Duet with Peaches 8- Nice to be Dead – Duet with Izia ( it made me thinking about Ron) 9- Gloria - Bonus song duet with Izia What a great week | |

So it was Nina ! I was wondering I couldn't see her very well, but I heard what Iggy told her (I'm not sure) He may said "How can you love a man with no conviction ?"... I loved the duet with Peaches, they seemed to get on well and have fun, I didn't know her before. She made the first part of the Stooges gig some years ago but we arrived too late and couldn't see her...
