| I'm almost considering driving up to NYC from Atlanta because I seriously doubt they will do anything here. Possibly my only chance to ever actually meet Iggy. I really wish some of the other guys were going to be there too. If Scott and James were going to be there also I would have already booked my flight. | |

Are you in NYC Nat or are you going to travel there for the event? Is there anyone in the Atlanta vicinity that is interested in maybe road tripping to NYC for this?

| So, anybody from the southeast interested in a road trip? I'm serious. If you are PM me and we will work out the details. Seriously. It takes about 13 hours or so to get to NY state from Atlanta. | |

| We tried to get the entire band there, seriously. Iggy of course committed from the start, but it was harder to nail down James and Scott, both had other things planned close to the date and couldn't confirm in time to make it real, we had hoped to get Mackay and Watt as well. It was very close...
Who knows, maybe Los Angeles in the Spring.

Who knows, maybe Los Angeles in the Spring. I'm trying my best to find somebody on the forum here to road trip it up to NYC from Atlanta, but no one has been interested. I seriously doubt you guys would want to do anything in this backasswards place, so I guess I will have to solo it myself. I made it to Toronto from Atlanta in a day once, so I could probably make it to NYC in 12 or so hours if I only stop for gas. Miami is about the same distance as NYC and I guess I could show up at Iggy's door and have him sign mine, but I doubt he would appreciate that sort of intrusion very much. lol

I just figure it will be the only time I would ever get to actually meet Iggy. Robert might likely come to Atlanta at some point to promote the book, but I'm sure Iggy will be too busy over the next year to do more than a few appearances and those would be in major cities like NYC and LA. So, I guess it will require a road trip if I want to ever meet the Ig. I'm hoping that I will have my Stooges 71 box set by then (Carlton and Edie assure me it will be here no later than Monday) and maybe Iggy and Robert will sign that along with a book. I just ordered an extra book strictly to be signed and seldom touched. According to Edie neither Iggy or Scott or James have received their box set yet either, so I don't feel so bad since I'm in good company.

Hopefully you get to hang out with Natalie and other forum members also. If Iggy and Robert make it to the Twin Cities I'd be there of course, but I'd drive to Chicago or maybe Detroit to get my book signed.

If Iggy and Robert make it to the Twin Cities I'd be there of course, but I'd drive to Chicago or maybe Detroit to get my book signed. Mapquest claims it's 1698 miles round trip. I'm not positive it's going to happen. If I could find someone else in the area or even along the way who was interested it would be much more likeky. Anyone, anyone?

| Too bad somebody didn't think about trying to stream this event over the interweb. It really would be that hard to do. Hell, at least someone from the forum here that's going to attend could take their lappy and blog as it's happening. Maybe post a few photos. | |

| Is anybody on the forum going to be at the B & N for this even tomorrow and if so, is there any possibility of doing as I have suggested. Take a laptop and hook up to the book stores WiFi and blog us there through the forum. If they are gonna do a Q & A you could let us in on the conversation. Maybe snap some digital pics and upload them to the forum. It would be kick ass. PLEASE. | |

Hopefully Natalie will be here soon with a full report! Come on Natalie!! I was really hoping somebody would have had the foresight to have taken a laptop to the B & N and blogged it up for us. You would think Iggy or Roberts "people" would have done something of that nature. Hell, a video camera and a decent internet hook-they could streamed it. I guess some people just don't realize how important it is to capitalize on all the converging buzz that is going on around the Stooges at this moment. If I were Iggy's agent I would have had somebody at least real-time blogging this event on either Iggy's website or this forum. I would've had Iggy and Robert sign some books and some of the EA box sets and auctioned them off for charity on eBay. I mean shit, the guys aren't getting any younger and this (the book, the box set, James rejoining the band, the upcoming tour, etc, etc.) might be the last, best chance to really make the naysayers stand up and admit that they were wrong all those years ago when they said the Stooges were nothing but dope addicts, weirdos, losers and that their music sucked. Especially those asshole at the so called "rock-nRoll Hall of Fame" for not inducting them years ago.

| Here's a link to the B&N page: http://store-locator.barnesandnoble.com/event/62213They said they'd have a recording of the event up on the web in about 3 weeks. The talk itself was pretty short, just some introductions and a few general questions before turning it over to a Q&A with the audience. After that it was a long slow queue to get my book signed. I'm not sure the Q&A would have been worth 1600 miles of anyone's time...but getting a few words in with Iggy? That's another story! When I got up to the table Iggy was responding to the guy in front of me, who was following up on a question someone asked about musical influences, and saying how happy to hear Iggy namecheck a lot of classical artists. I chimed in that my favorite Stooges "influence" quote was one Iggy made on several occasions about being really into the rhythms of the sprawling auto plants that were ubiquitous in metro Detroit. I spent a summer working in a couple of small Detroit factories for beer money after high school, and I told him that being able to hear and lock into the rhythms of the machines I was working was the only thing that kept me sane. He totally knew what I meant, then went on to namecheck John Cage, and how it's all music, yadda yadda, and then the line moved on. Got to chat briefly with Robert as well, and asked if he happened to shoot the Raw Power Stooges show in St. Claire Shores that was my first (and most profound) Stooges experience. He said no, but he was there (too bad, I hope someday to find that someone has documented it, in some small way). | |
