That's a hell of a lot of stuff.
Do you think the thief emptied the truck, or stole the truck as well?
If it's the latter, it my be easier to track the truck.

I don't think they could have emptied the truck quick enough without being loud.

I hope they don't cancel

Crap. That's bad news.
I guess it was all insured but it still sucks, and I guess at least some of the equipment (Mike's bass is listed) was the personal property of the band members, which sucks even more.
I hope they get it back soon.
Richard

From the BBC website -

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7542422.stm

A truck full of instruments and stage gear belonging to singer Iggy Pop and band The Stooges has been stolen after they played at a festival in Montreal.

Their road manager told the Detroit Free Press newspaper the stolen gear was worth tens of thousands of dollars.

The veteran rocker and his band are playing in North America ahead of a European tour later this month.

The star, 61, known for his wild stage antics, will play dates including London's Get Loaded in the Park.

The band's road manager Eric Fischer told the Detroit Free Press some "priceless" vintage instruments were among those stolen.

They include bassist Mike Watt's Gibson instrument, which he first used in US punk band Minutemen in the early 1980s.

"That bass would go in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame some day if we could find it," Mr Fischer told the paper.

"We're all just gutted."

Mr Fischer said the truck had been taken from the road outside the hotel the band were staying at after their performance on Sunday night.

He told the paper that the band's scheduled Wednesday night performance in Toronto would go ahead as planned using rented and donated equipment.

Maybe Toronto will get that set of the Stooges playing homemade instruments again, I'd so love to see Smile

No, in all seriousness this is just real shit. I wonder if the bastard knew it was the Stooges gear he was stealing, maybe when he finds out he'll dump it.

I'm assuming that the whole truck was taken (it's a hell of a lot of gear to carry away otherwise) so surely a massive great truck like that would be fairly easy to find? And with all the publicity surrounding the theft I'd have thought it might be hard to offload the equipment.
So where is it?
I really hope they get it back, especially the personal gear.
Cheers,
Richard

I was at that show (full review coming shortly), its absolutley terrible that all their gear is gone. I remember looking at all their stuff during the set-up and thinking about how many shows the guitars and such have beeen through and the pure history of them. I really hope they get it all back.

I was wondering tho, was no one guarding the truck? I mean did they leave it unattended with all their gear in the back?

GOOD question. If someone WAS in charge, I'd suggest they come up with some fucking answers. QUICK!

Yeah. I agree ! That's alot to be left anonymous ! And another thing im courious about is that is says "Had to have happened between 6:30 AM & 7:30 AM" where was everyone at between that time ? And, how would the guilty party have known the right timming to steal it ? This person isn't a rookie, I'll tell ya that much !

Cheers !

Thats seriously fucked up. Of all the bands to do it to, why The Stooges? Obviously as well as being complete bastards the theives have a shit taste in music. I feel especially sorry for Mike Watt, that bass has so much history.
