It's really shit that this happens the best of bands, especially those who don't get a shitload of cash for everything they do.
This is as disgusting as it was when The Brian Jonestown Massacre got their gear stolen.

Sad indeed - particularly the loss of Mike Watt's bass - but it never ceases to amaze me how many bands get their equipment ripped off by leaving it unattended in tour vans. I see Iron Maiden's guitarist got his guitar stolen in Athens recently... probably for the best

Well, I wouldn't worry about the Stooges paydays. They are gteting paid some pretty pennies. When you headline major festivals, you are getting paid the big bucks.

As for Jonestown, I friggin' love that Rickenbacher!!

No I'm absoloutly fine with Iron Maiden and Rush getting ripped off actually I'd encourage everyone to do it. That means more radio airwaves and channels clear for Stooges stuff and no more 10 minute long drum solos. Thats never a bad thing.

Radio isn't gonna touch the Stooges regardless. They get quite a bit of media coverage though, as cb's posts indicate. I see your point about 10 minute drum solos. I like them, but that's my bag.

Actually, the Detroit station 89X (which, for those out-of-towners, is basically standard "alternative rock") frequently plays The Stooges and/or Iggy. I hear "I Wanna Be Your Dog" and "Search And Destroy" quite often. I've heard "Down On The Street" and "TV Eye" a time or two over the years. Also, both Skull Ring and Weirdness stuff. Tons of Iggy solo stuff, too (usually the singles off each album).

There is also WDET, a college station in Detroit (101.9), which has since basically turned to talk radio, used to play a LOT of Stooges. I think I even heard "LA Blues" once. For those of you in the area, who might know the station, losing the music on this station was like losing an old friend. For me, in my area, this was the ONLY! radio station. It had the most eclectic playlist I've ever heard. I haven't been the same since.
