| The truth of the matter is that if Iggy doesn't play some of his solo stuff now, then he probably never will...Just think of how diverse the setlists could be mixing the 71-74 era stuff with the Lust for Life and New Values albums...Gimme Some Skin morphing into Sixteen then to Sick of You and Heavy Liquid transitioning into I'm Bored. I just look at it as a celebration of a bygone era. Its five guys living through the past, what does it matter whose past it is? | |

| Didn't James only play on Don't Look Down. Anyway it doesn't really matter. You all make some good points but without knowing who is getting paid what I wouldn't like to say that the Stooges are not being employed as a backing band. Personally I'd still be happy if I never heard the Passenger again but, like others, I saw Iggy many times before I saw the Stooges and it would be nice to hear some of those songs again. And I remember seeing Iggy playing Death Trip in the 90s and it wasn't pretty. I blame the guitarist. | |

| I've always wanted to hear The Passenger live cos I love it but I understand what people mean about The Stooges being a backing band, but then again they wouldn't perform the songs if they didn't want to. | |

| I am completely for the Stooges playing Lust For Life, Passenger et al. Iggy is a smart guy, hes saying to the fans this is how these songs should be played. As early as the Idiot he was lamenting the loss of his Dum Dum Boys if you know what I mean. That set list from last night is the collection of the greatest rock songs of all time. Iggy knows that and if you dont get it ,in my opinion and im sure all the musicians tough shit Im personally looking forward to them tackling Neon Forest James sound awesome, brings a tear to the eye to think of all the meatheads Iggy has wasted his time with over the years The only worrying thing is that Iggy has a gut, time to start wearing a tshirt | |

| Scott is playing like a man possessed. That in itself is worth the price of admission. This is as good as you'll ever hear Iggy's solo songs being played. | |

Totally Agree!! Scotty's opinion is the most important for the Stooges now, cuz he is Ron's bro. As he says he want's to play the stuff... Who am i than to say somethin about what Stooges should play and not?? I'm fine with all Scotty decides > as long as Scotty is ok with it!!! |

If that's the case presumably Iggy was saying something else to his fans by touring for decades with a variety of anonymous backing bands who, more often than not, turned the songs into third rate Rock. Any suggestions what that might have been?
Re Dum Dum Boys, yes I know what you mean, I also know what a "Backhanded" compliment is, and the lyrics to that song are as good a definition as you're ever likely to get. Assuming you got past the straight forward insult of the title in the first place.
That set list from last night is the collection of the greatest rock songs of all time. Iggy knows that and if you dont get it ,in my opinion and im sure all the musicians tough shit :) Im personally looking forward to them tackling Neon Forest :)
Nope, it's a collection of some of the greatest songs from Iggy's career, with the surviving members of The Stooges acting as his back-up band. I'm not saying that's a good or a bad thing, that's for them to decide. But if this isn't simply "Iggy Pop's Greatest Hits", and it's A-okay to play post-Stooges songs that only one band member originally appeared on at a Stooges show, how come all the post-Stooges songs are his? I for one, and I'm sure there must be plenty of others, would kill to hear James taking on City Slang, or maybe November 22nd as a tribute to Ron. So what do you think the chances of that happening are?
James sound awesome, brings a tear to the eye to think of all the meatheads Iggy has wasted his time with over the years
He certainly does, but I'd save my tears for the people who, post early-eighties, actually paid to see those solo shows/hear those solo albums, as it was entirely Iggy's decision what they'd be getting for their money.
The only worrying thing is that Iggy has a gut, time to start wearing a tshirt :)
I really couldn't comment, no, really, I need to fix something on my computer as right now I can only hear the audio :D

I´m happy that the Stooges are back, but actually...Scott plays few songs slower than he should. He seems to struggle with the right tempo at times...

| I have no real problems with the setlist except for the Bowie tunes. Scott does seem to struggle a bit with those Hunt Sales beats. 'The Passenger' especially is deceptively simple, but just TRY playing it live at the proper tempo.
(Let's not forget that Scott has played 'Lust' & '5'1"' before when the Sonic's Rendezvous Band backed Iggy in '78).
Microscopically minor quibbles aside, this show kicked major ass. I'm digging Williamson's 'George Washington' look (pioneered by Jimmy Page at the O2 reunion) and the refurbished Les Paul looks killer.

| Iggy had a number of good, even great bands in the 80s. Favorite eras where the band right after New Values then into Sonic's band, and again in 1988 he had a killer band. Iggy was based in NYC and used local guys, and maybe Ron wanted to prove himself on his own with Niagara. I know Iggy had a big chip trying to prove himself to labels, and maybe wanted distance too. Does anyone know if Ron was ever invited back before the reunion? I know Iggy made a conscious decision to form the Trolls band because he wanted a band he could depend on & not superstars. I remember the ads in the paper for auditions. I should have auditioned with my friend Jim, but I was really busy with my business, a band & traveling then, and figured just like every other band Iggy had since the Stooges, it would be a short run type of thing. | |

- Yeah, I dont understand why people say that Iggy´s solo bands didn't work. He had so many and very different style of great guitar players: Fred Sonic Smith from the MC5, Brian James - from the Damned was just as good as Ron or James. Andy McCoy and Steve Jones did a great job and that Eric..whats his name, god...Eric, Eric..I forget his last name..eh... Eric Schomar..something. He plays great guitar on American Ceasar album and Trolls weren't so bad either.

| I'm glad we've come full circle on this topic, and in only three days at that, congratulations everyone...
Step 1: Outrage that Iggy would dare to include his own songs Step 2: Grief towards the Stooges being reduced to Iggy's "backing band" Step 3: Reasoning that if thats what Iggy and the band agree to play the songs then so be it Step 4: Acceptance of the new status quo and figuring everyone's happy with it in the end

| I think it's great that the stooges are doing some of the solo stuff, and some of the stuff they were doing from the first 2 albums. The brazil show was pretty sloppy though. I do see VERY good things for the future ! The stooges when they reunited were alittle sloppy too. | |
