Raw Power Deluxe Edition - Shipped!

Just got the email - deluxe shipped today!

I just got an email from the Iggy and the Stooges Global Store informing me that my Deluxe Edition box just shipped. I thought it became available on April 27. Looks like I should have mine by then - if I'm lucky!

I'll probably end up buying the other one Monday night at the Egyptian Theater and having james autograph it.

I haven't received any noticed as of yet. Lucky you, I wish I was able to attend the doc showing.

Yep - I've received the same notififation. For some reason I have received two emails with two separate order numbers. I'm wondering if this is a screw-up or if I have mistakenly ordered two copies!

Better go check my email ! Can't wait to hear Georgia Peaches.

Well mine shipped today too....but its not scheduled for delivery until next Wednesday. Phooey!

Not many surprises photo-wise (thanks to this site) but the color shot of Iggy at the '72 Mainman promo event in London is cool.

Someone's pulling our chain. Mail doesn't move that fast unless you are either in the same postal region or you paid for express next-day delivery. Mine left TN, arrived in VA about an hour ago, and should be at my door on Saturday!

I gotta agree. I got my email 2 days ago and it still hasn't arrived. Last time I checked - UPS doesn't deliver on Saturday unless it's a Saturday delivery - so Monday, Monday - how good it will be.

Okay Guys, I received my copy and I have given it a listen. My first impressions of the three CD's (not watched the DVD yet) are as follows:

Disc 1 - Raw Power Remaster: Sounds considerably better than all the other editions in my opinion. The entire album seems to have a new sense of life. There is a small glitch at the end of "Pretty Face..." but this sounds like tape damage and is not surprising given the age of the master reels. Well worth the money.

Disc 2 - Georgia Peaches: A great live show. A shame about the technical problems at the beginning and end with the guitar and vocals respectively, but this is the best live Stooges we are likely to hear from this period, and it rocks! Doojiman is strange, but an interesting curiosity. But I am in two minds about Head On. For one thing it has already been released on Heavy Liquid, and I think the speed here is a little too fast. Others may have different opinions but it sounds that way to me.

Disc 3 - Alternates and Rarities: Here is where the controversy starts. There has been speculation about the vocals on I'm Hungry, but whether or not they are a recent addition it sounds as though they were added to an already-mixed backing track rather than mixed from multi-tracks. Listen carefully and decide for yourselves. The version of I Got A Right has never been released officially before, but I think it did come out on a bootleg 7" in Europe. Hey Peter is great! Possibly the best track on the disc. The only other tracks of note are the so-called 'Embassy Reels' tracks. You may know that there has been a debate about these on a different thread, and having finally heard them I take back everything I said and offer apologies to Mark. Shake Appeal and Death Trip on this disc are simply the Bowie versions and I cannot hear anything different about them. They even fade out in the same place. If these really are 'different mix' versions then we need Bruce Dickinson or Robert to explain how!

That version of "I Got a Right" is on the Heavy Liquid box CD1 tr17. IMO, the definitive version is the one released on the Siamese label 45 in 1977. Strangely, this take was not recorded during the session on Heavy Liquid. Seems maybe the band wasn't happy with any of those takes and recorded it again at another session. Anyway, the 45 version as well as it's b-side , "Gimme Some Skin", should have really been included on CD3 of the RP box.
