OK aside from the suggestions so far...
+ the fabled radio broadcast of The Stooges at Cincinatti Festival, 1970
+ The full filmed footage of the Stooges at Cincinatti 70, in non youtube quality, be it the 6 minutes that we've seen, or more if it exists
+ Iggy SF Old Wardorf 27.11.79 gig, the one that appeared on bootleg tape and LP...but without the wow and flutter (ie minor, but noticeable, speed fluctuation). I have now seen the annoucement about an SF 79 show but it's not clear if it's this one or not.
+ A true stereo recording of the Iggy LA Stardust Ballroom 30.11.79 gig if it ever turns up. If not Easy Action could do well to let mixing buffs work with them a little...these days there are many people who can do great work at home, and with respect Easy Action need to consult these people. I've heard some great home created stereo mixes and sensitively done clean-ups which are not too cliniical and preserve the warmth, power and spirit of the gig / recording.
Many - particularly Iggy fans - would be not be demanding in terms of payment and just be glad quality sounding Iggy is being shared. My one big "issue" with Easy Action is the astounding lack of quality control over sound, while the actual material is well chosen, and the packaging is great.
It's time they address this.
+ On that issue, if Carlton P Sandercock is still in charge (and was the same guy in charge in the 90's at Trident) he should dig out my tape of Chicago Mantra Studios 28.3.77 I got passed to him, and put that out to replace the abomination of a "mix" used on the Faces Shine Box Set Vol.1. Apologies if I seem abrasive and perhaps a little 'open' here, however I care deeply about Iggy's music too, and how it's presented. The tape I had is even better than the torrent seeded on Zomb currently of this gig.
+ Calmed down again now
. OK Chicago Waves Club 1.10.80 - a cleaned up version of the LP and the further tracks on the tape version of this, again done sensitively (see my notes following 'A true stereo recording of the LA Stardust Ballroom 30.11.79 gig...').
+ These high quality recordings could be considered -
15.05.80 Barcelona, Picadero
18.05.80? Palasport (aka pesaro) Italy fm bc
18.06.81 Bologna, Palasport (I think my tape of this might have been passed to Trident, which was connected to what is now Easy Action I'm certain...it was rejected as not high enough quality but it's actually a hell of a lot better than half the stuff on Where The Faces Shine 1, and a fantastic gig to boot, if I remember rightly!).
11.11.82 Calgary, McEwan (fm bc)
17.06.83 Osaka, Koseinenkin Hall (sb)
EDIT to the above...there was another good 1981 FM broadcast, but it's past 2am here, so too tired to check the exact location!
+ Further high quality recordings that should be considered -
01.04.87 Sag Harbour, Bay Street (fm bc).
I'd love to hear the above, I never have. That era meant a lot to me as it's the first Iggy live stuff I heard, despite getting the Stooges albums, I collected live tapes of that era as I was getting into Iggy at that time.
05.07.87 Werchter Festival Terrein (fm bc)
17.11.90 Boston, Citi Club
21.01.91 Rotterdam, Ahoy
01.02.91 Vienna CA-Zelt.
10.07.91 Antibes-Juan Les Pins, Pinede Gould.
23.01.94 Kawasaki Club Citta
13.02.94 Gothenburg, Rondo (fm bc).
20.02.94 Copenhagen Pumpehuset
20.04.94 Rennes, Salle Omnisports.
28.04.96 Vancouver, Commodore Ballroom
20.07.96 Gurten Festival (Swiss Cheese)
31.12.97 Lorn, Victoria, Falls Festival (fm bc)
28.06.98 Roskilde Festival (fm bc)
+ A best Stooges gig or two from the reunion. I was knocked out by the Hammersmith gig in 2005. That and The Fall gig I saw that year are the best two gigs I've ever seen in my life...the Stooges gig had me in tears of joy as Iggy hit the stage and we all rose to our feet in unison, even on the balcony where we were (and the Fall gig set off tinnitus in my ears for once and for all it seems!).
However the Stooges - both official and unoffiical - gig recordings I've heard so far from the reunion years haven't yet set my pulse racing so much...I think it's a 'had to be there' feeling, I think it's that the mix hasn't quite captured it. I'd love to be shown wrong / hear the recordings that get it right (though I suspect the Reading Festival DVD I hope to get soon could be one that does).
+ last thing on DVD footage :
The Phoenix Festival was broadcast on UK TV back in '94... I seem to recall most recordings - audio or video tended to miss the first track or cut into it, as that what the rebroadcast did. It would be nice to get a complete DVD release of it, I was there
. RE any further DVD footage...the live 88 show was nice to have at the end of the Where The Faces Shine 2 package...but then the excerpts on the 'Escaped Maniacs' DVD 2 were much cleaner sounding.
Sorry to hammer the point home, but once more there are *many people* these days who can do quality, good sounding clean-ups and remixing at home that get it right, and are happy to torrent it for little return apart from raising their 'share ratio' on a torrent site.
so my last request - PLEASE Easy Action, consult such people!
Thanks.
