Legacy adds that the new edition will also be bolstered by some choice bonus tracks to be announced soon. this is the most important thing for me from that article -and that whole iggys tape stash thing is BS lol

| Remember the interview with Scott? He talks about this tape being offered to the band. He said they would probably buy it from the Atlanta guys. He also said that Iggy was reciting some poetry during the show.
I bet dollars to donuts, this is THAT tape

| Choice bonus cuts? Probably the pre-Raw Power recordings (Tight Pants, Gimme Some Skin etc) but it would be great if some genuinely new stuff was issued. Cheers, Richard | |

brilliant! when/where did he say it? i think has been on his mind for a while; raw power is stooges legacy but kill city is his (and iggys to an extent) so i think he wants it out in the best quality

This is great - especially since the better versions of Johanna and Consolation Prizes aren't even on the album. Personally - I think the version of Johanna from BOMP's Year of the Iguana and Consolation Prizes from BOMP's Motoer City's Burnin vol. 2 comp. are far superior. It'd be great to hear more alternate mixes - especially of 'I got Nothin'.

Yep - no sax, cleaner guitars - overall different mix I got Kill City on LP for christmas and after lsitening to it I wondered if this was supposed too be Iggy's jazz album with all that sax on there, the sound was so muddy it was like him singing over traffic noise with a busker on a street corner

| Mixing is an art. I'll be curious as to whether or not the saxes are mixed down for better effect as opposed to removed entirely. Producer Allan Toussaint, the great funk/R&B guy, was known for his tasteful use of horns: they're always there, but as an element, not a lead sound. | |

| Aren't we veering into revisionism if instruments are mixed down or out?
Like what Ig was accused of for RP '97.
Not that I wouldnt mind a bit more balls to sum of those Kill City songs.

| Well, I think this is a discrete way of saving Raw Power from its two well-intentioned but fell-flat remixes. Kill City supposedly was recorded on a severe budget with friends playing for free. It will be nice to hear what it can sound like now that they can afford to tweak exactly what they want. The songs are killer and deserve this. | |

| how amazing does this sound! http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2010/02/09/iggy-and-the-stooges-reveal-bonuses-on-raw-power-box-set/ggy and the Stooges Reveal Bonuses on “Raw Power” Box Set 2/9/10, 5:05 pm EST Photo: Mick Rock Iggy and the Stooges’ 1973 classic Raw Power will be reissued April 27th as a Deluxe Edition box set complete with three discs worth of music featuring 15 previously unreleased bonuses — never-before-heard tracks, demos and remixes. One of Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, Raw Power was the first Stooges album to feature James Williamson on guitar in place of the great Ron Asheton, who switched to bass. The LP spawned the punk anthems “Search and Destroy” and “Gimme Danger.” As Rolling Stone previously reported, the Stooges, who will be inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March, will celebrate their third album by performing the whole LP in concert. Five decades of Raw Power: The Stooges in photos. The first disc of the box set will contain the newly remastered Raw Power, featuring David Bowie’s original mix for the album that was previously out of print, while the second disc boasts the Georgia Peaches bootleg, comprised of an unreleased soundboard recording of a 1973 concert the Stooges performed in Atlanta, Georgia. Two more unreleased songs will grace the second disc: An Iggy Pop/James Williamson-penned outtake called “Doojiman” and a rehearsal performance of “Head On.” The third disc features four more outtakes — “I’m Hungry,” “I Got a Right,” “I’m Sick of You” and “Hey, Peter” — and alternate mixes of four tracks: “Shake Appeal,” “Death Trip” “Gimme Danger” and “Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell.” The Raw Power: Deluxe Edition box set also includes a new hour-long making-of Raw Power documentary, a 48-page photo book and a replica of the 1973 Japanese “Raw Power” 7” single. The box set will only be available through the Iggy and the Stooges Website. | |
